The second trade of the Bob Murray era is complete, and it’s slightly bigger than the first (which sent Joakim Lindstrom to the Phoenix Coyotes): Brian Sutherby is going to Dallas in exchange for a college player and a future draft pick.
The collegian is David McIntyre, a 21-year-old center playing for Colgate University, who was a fifth-round pick in 2006 by the Stars. The draft pick is a conditional sixth-round pick in 2010. I’m not sure what the conditions are, but will report them in tomorrow’s editions.
The move also clears up $700,000 in salary-cap space — not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but the Ducks had been within $500,000 of the cap ceiling, which limited their ability to recall AHL players for short-term injury replacements.
More in tomorrow’s editions.
