Steve Kampfer update.

Asked about the Chris Pronger-to-the-Maple Leafs rumour begun in the Ottawa Sun, Ducks GM Bob Murray had this to say: “Brian and I have emailed
each other today about 7 times and not once was there any talk of a trade. It
was about one of our former draft picks who got hurt in a game, Steve Kampfer. That’s
what got talked about.”

Here is an update on Kampfer, the Ducks’ fourth-round pick in the 2007 draft currently at the University of Michigan, who was the victim of a Bertuzzi-like cheap shot Friday night against rival Michigan State. This isn’t the first time he’s sustained injuries as a result of a cheap shot; in October his neck was seriously injured when he was shoved onto concrete near campus by a Michigan football player.

Classy kids up there in Michigan. Fortunately, Kampfer said his injury is not serious.
