Morrison goes on waivers.

The Ducks placed Brendan Morrison on waivers today, and if no team claims him before 9 a.m. tomorrow, he can be reassigned to AHL affiliate Iowa. Morrison, signed in the offseason to a one-year $2.75 million contract, has 10 goals and 22 points in 61 games this season.

To the front office, it represents white flag of surrender toward the team’s top off-season free-agent signing. To Morrison, it is hopefully a fresh start, one he never found in Anaheim. It stands to reason that Bob Murray had been dangling Morrison in trade offers, but none met his satisfaction. We’ll find out exactly how much interest there is for the 33-year-old tomorrow morning.
