Here's the scoop on prospects Nick Bonino and Timo Pielmeier, whom the Ducks acquired from the San Jose Sharks earlier today for Travis Moen and Kent Huskins.

Bonino, 20 (4/20/88), is in his sophomore season at Boston University (BU). He was named the Reebok Hockey East Player of the Month for February, scoring 6-8=14 points with a +9 rating in nine games. He won the Most Valuable Player award at the annual Beanpot Tournament last month, scoring three goals in two games as Boston University won the title. In 33 games this season, he has scored 13-24=37 points with a team-leading +19 rating.

A native of Hartford, CT, Bonino was drafted by San Jose in the sixth round (173rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. As a freshman at BU, Bonino led all Hockey East freshmen in goals, scoring 16-13=29 points in 39 games. Before enrolling at BU, he was the 2007 United States Hockey Report Prep Forward of the Year. He captained Avon Old Farms (Avon, CT) to the 2007 New England Division 1 Prep championship, scoring 24-42=66 points in 26 games.

Pielmeier, 19 (7/7/89), has earned a 29-9-0 record with a 2.62 goals-against average (GAA) and .916 save percentage (SV%) in 41 games this season with the second-place Shawinigan-Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The 6-0, 175-pound netminder ranks fifth overall in the QMJHL in both GAA and SV%, while also ranking sixth in wins.

Selected by San Jose in the third round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft (83rd overall), Pielmeier began his North American career in the QMJHL with St. John's in 2007-08, leading the league in SV% (.911). The native of Deggendorf, Germany represented his country in the 2005-06 World U-18 Championships and again in 2006-07 at the World Junior Championships.
