Pronger: 'Maybe they just didn't get the right offer.'

Chris Pronger wasn't precisely sure why he wasn't traded before Wednesday's deadline. But after it was suggested that maybe the Ducks' brass was confident about the group led by himself and Scott Niedermayer, the big defenseman quickly pointed out that "maybe they just didn't get the right offer."

He was kidding without kidding. Nobody does it better.
Here's what else he had to say about Wednesday's moves:

"I've never been a part of a team that made five or six trades like this, so it's a little bit different. I think people can look at it any way they want. But we're professionals. We have to play the game as best we can and to the best of our abilities. Whether 15 guys get traded or nobody gets traded, we've got to come with that same mindset that we're going to win every night and come to work."

"We made a lot of trades yesterday. Having said that, guys understand it's a business. Guys understand the nature of the game. We got rid of essentially five unrestricted free agents. You knew at some point, when you have 13 of them going into the season, some of them are going to have to move. It's a tough part of the business to lose a lot of friends. But we've all been through it and it happens."

"I don't think you can go through playing the game and worry, 'oh if I'm going to get traded,' or, 'oh if I sign a contract.' You've got to play the game and not worry about the business side of it. You can't deal with it on an hourly basis, daily basis. That's why you have an agent. That's why you have the entourage. You just worry about playing the game to the best of your abilities."
