The Anaheim Ducks announced today that The Rinks- Anaheim ICE will host "April Skate" on Sunday, Apr. 26 from 1-3 p.m. The Ducks official practice facility, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Disney GOALS and Ultimate Skate and Hockey have joined together to raise funds to help continue the fight to stop drunk driving, support the victims of violent crime and prevent underage drinking.
  
Entrance to the "April Skate" will cost $10, with 100% of the proceeds going toward MADD. The entrance fee includes skate rentals for a two-hour open skate session. In addition, the event features raffle and silent auctions items such as an autographed Chris Pronger jersey and overnight hotel stays in the Anaheim resort area. A deejay will be on hand to provide music and Ducks mascot Wild Wing will also participate in this special afternoon.
 
The event was created in memory of April Whang, a long-time employee of the Ultimate Skate and Hockey Pro Shop, located within Anaheim ICE. On Feb. 1, Whang was killed by a drunk driver in an automobile accident. A graduate of Sunny Hills High School, April was known for her warm smile and kind spirit. Prior to her passing at the untimely age of 26, Whang had been working at Ultimate Skate and Hockey for three years. A former figure skater, April is survived by her parents, Kyung and Brian Whang, as well as her sister, Kimberly Whang.
