On the Ducks' playoff odds.
Ducks GM Bob Murray lives in Chicago, so he won't have to spend too much to ship a bouquet of flowers to the Blackhawks. Their win yesterday over Nashville means the Ducks need just one more win, either Friday against the Dallas Stars or Saturday in Phoenix, to clinch a playoff berth. Anyone hoping to celebrate the occasion in person (or simply hoping to get revenge on Dallas for last season) is rooting for a win Friday.
Statistically, Chicago's victory increased the Ducks' chances of making the playoffs by 2.4 percent, to 94.8 percent, according to Sports Club Stats.

J.P. Hoornstra has been covering the Anaheim Ducks since 2007. Eight months after the University of Wisconsin won its third NCAA hockey championship, he was born in a frigid Madison winter. He betrayed his blue-blooded beginnings by graduating from UCLA in 2003, and welcomes any and all dialogue on the finer points of hockey.
