Murray on “NHL Live”

In case you missed it on NHL Live earlier today, Bob Murray spoke for about five minutes on a handful of topics.

Addressing the first question on everyone’s minds, Murray said there’s no news on the Scott Niedermayer front, and he is going into the draft with a “Plan A, Plan B, Plan C kind of thing.”

Regarding Francois Beauchemin’s impending free agency, Murray said that the defenseman has been looking forward to July 1 for years, so he can test the market and determine his value. Murray admitted that Beauchemin might be priced out of Anaheim, but “maybe something’s going to happen over the next little while that I will be able to (re-sign him).” The likely interpretation: Only if Niedermayer retires will Beauchemin be back.

Murray was more frank about the goalie situation between Jonas Hiller and Jean-Sebastien Giguere. “We’re an envy right now because we have 1-A and 1-B and they’re both damn good goaltenders. It’s a good position to be in. How long can it continue? Jonas has one more year, then he’s unrestricted. Let’s face it, there’s some decisions coming in goal and they’re not easy ones.”
