Jordan Smith update.

Jordan Smith’s pro hockey career ended far, far too quickly after he was selected by the Mighty Ducks in the second round of the 2004 draft.

The defenseman was playing a game for Portland in 2006 when he was struck by a puck in his eye, and lost all vision in the eye. As a result, the AHL instituted its mandatory-visor rule.

Smith’s tenure with the Ducks ended that day, but his story doesn’t end there.

He enrolled at Lakehead University in Canada to become a teacher. He was also able to continue playing collegiate hockey for the Thunderwolves’ program, and today was named the team captain. A feel-good story, if there ever were one. Check it out:http://www.tbnewswatch.com/sports/?cid=64625
