Ducks swap minor-league wingers with Senators.

Apparently Bob Murray needed a left wing, and Bryan Murray needed a right wing, to play on their respective AHL teams.

In a trade that might only affect the NHL clubs' rookie camp rosters, but not much else until the AHL season starts, the Ducks have dealt right wing Jason Bailey to Ottawa in exchange for left wing Shawn Weller.

The 23-year-old Weller (stats) played for the Binghamton Senators last season, Ottawa's primary affiliate in the AHL. He appeared in a career-high 70 contests, collecting nine points (four goals, five assists) with 57 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 199-pound winger recorded also appeared in four contests with Elmira of the ECHL last season, earning a goal and an assist with two PIM.

Originally selected by Ottawa in the third round (77th overall) of the 2004 draft, Weller has appeared in 134 career AHL games, recording 12 goals and 25 points with 101 penalty minutes. The Glens Falls, NY native played three seasons of college hockey at Clarkson University of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC), earning 36 goals and 78 points with 237 PIM in 109 career games. He led the club in goals and points in 2006-07, collecting 19 goals and 40 points in 39 games. In 2005, Weller played for Team USA's Under-20 team at the IIHF World Junior Championships, appearing in seven contests.

The 22-year-old Bailey (career stats) appeared in 35 games with ECHL affiliate Bakersfield in his first professional season in 2008-09, scoring four goals and 10 points with 44 PIM. Originally selected by Anaheim in the third round (63rd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Bailey also appeared in two contests with Iowa (AHL) last season, going scoreless. In two seasons of junior hockey with Ottawa of the Ontario Hockey League, Bailey had 15 goals and 33 points with 166 PIM. The Ottawa native also played two seasons of college hockey with the University of Michigan from 2005-07.
