Report: Burke offered Steve Moore a contract in 2005
Nothing to do with the Ducks, but an interesting story nonetheless. Ex-Ducks general manager Brian Burke, when he was still GM of the Vancouver Canucks in 2005, offered a two-way contact to Steve Moore. Moore is the player who has sued Todd Bertuzzi over a 2004 hit that has left him unable to play since -- which makes the offer of a contract one year later intriguing.

J.P. Hoornstra has been covering the Anaheim Ducks since 2007. Eight months after the University of Wisconsin won its third NCAA hockey championship, he was born in a frigid Madison winter. He betrayed his blue-blooded beginnings by graduating from UCLA in 2003, and welcomes any and all dialogue on the finer points of hockey.
