Kings 4, Ducks 3.
In a tightly contested game, each team had its moments.
The Kings forechecked effectively and held the territorial advantage, outshooting the Ducks 42-30. Goals by Scott Parse and Justin Williams past Jonas Hiller gave the Kings a 2-0 lead in less than 12 minutes.
Corey Perry then extended his point-scoring streak, and brought the Ducks back into the game, with a bit of luck. Skating left to right through the crease, Perry lifted his rear skate blade off the ice at the last second to deflect a James Wisniewski slapshot into the net at 14:41 of the opening period.
Kings defenseman Randy Jones scored at 6:40 of the second period to make it 3-1, before Ducks defenseman Ryan Whitney added a power-play goal at 17:28.
Todd Marchant's fourth goal of the season at 5:29 of the third period knotted the game at 3. It remained tied until Jack Johnson ripped a slap shot, and Brad Richardson deflected it past Hiller with 2:20 remaining in the game.
