Preliminary training camp roster, schedule announced.

Thirty-one players have been guaranteed a roster spot in the Ducks’ training camp. Restricted free agent Bobby Ryan is one of them.

This isn’t neccessarily a surprise, as Ryan has been working out at Anaheim ICE most of this month with many of his past (and presumed future) teammates. Negotiations between the Ducks and Ryan’s agent have continued behind closed doors, with the two sides seemingly close enough for one reporter to jump the gun on a new contract. In that sense, nothing has changed — Ryan doesn’t want to be holding out for a contract once camp starts, and the team wants him there, too.

But of course, he can’t actually show up without having signed something first.

Ryan’s is the most notable name among the 19 invited forwards. Joffrey Lupul is also listed, although he doesn’t expect to be ready in time for camp as he continues to recover from a bacterial infection.

The others (in alphabetical order) are Matt Beleskey, Jason Blake, Troy Bodie, Ryan Carter, Kyle Chipchura, Ryan Getzlaf, Josh Green, Jason Jaffray, Saku Koivu, Todd Marchant, George Parros, Corey Perry, Teemu Selanne, Dan Sexton, MacGregor Sharp, Trevor Smith and Aaron Voros.

Defenseman Joe DiPenta, who signed with AHL affiliate Syracuse, is the only player in camp on a pro tryout contract, though others could be added before the first session on Sept. 18. The other invited defensemen include Sheldon Brookbank, Brett Festerling, Toni Lydman, Brendan Mikkelson, Luca Sbisa, Andy Sutton, Danny Syvret and Lubomir Visnovsky.

Jonas Hiller, Jean-Phillippe Levasseur and Curtis McElhinney are the three invited goalies.

Any number of rookies — including 2010 first-round draft picks Cam Fowler and Emerson Etem — could be invited to the main camp upon their return from a rookie tournament in Penticton, British Columbia.

The schedule for the first nine days of camp have been set:
