Pregnant convict escapes during restroom break

When ya gotta go, ya gotta go...
Lucy Passalacqua
LA CRESCENTA - A female convict on her way to the state correctional facility in Corona escaped from her guards Wednesday while stopping at a gas station restroom, but she was recaptured hours later.

Lucy Passalacqua, 34, who was 18-weeks pregnant, was being transferred to prison from a minimal security facility in Bakersfield when she said she needed to use the bathroom, Glendale police spokesman John Balian said.

Her guards let her use a gas station restroom near Pennsylvania Ave. and Foothill Blvd. at about 4:20 p.m. Passalacqua entered the restroom and then fled.

Authorities found her about 2 hours later.

She was convicted of grand theft and identity theft, and was serving her third year of a five-year sentence, Balian said.
