Rabbi Meyers became the first female rabbi to lead a congregation in the area when she took over Temple Sinai in Glendale in 1986. She died of bone cancer Thursday at her Los Angeles home, 10 weeks after she was diagnosed, according to the Times.
Here's a June 2001 Jewish Journal story about Meyers' departure from Temple Sinai to raise her two sons.
