Florence "Rusty" Tullis, finally R.I.P.

Brian Day talked to the niece of the late Florence "Rusty" Tullis and she will be picking up the remains after the county cremates the body. It will happen in the next few weeks. One mystery in this story that may never be answered is why did it take the Beverly Hospital nearly two months to report Tullis' death to the coroner's office. A delay the coroner's office said was highly unusual. Hospital officials refused to answer the question citing a federal privacy law. Another sad component is that because of financial hardships, the family couldn't afford to cremate the body. A forum for, I guess, bikers has been trying to create some type of fundraiser. Something that won't be needed now for the cremation costs. It's sad that all the people who made money off Tullis' story couldn't throw money to aid the family. And at least Cher should have known about her death because we talked to her p.r. person in November.

The body of Florence "Rusty" Tullis is still at the county coroner's office, nearly three months after she died.

Los Angeles County officials said the remains of the 70-year Glendora resident, portrayed by Cher in the 1985 movie "Mask," is expected to be cremated within the next two weeks.

"The family contacted us and asked the county to dispose of the remains," said Capt. Ed Winter.

The family can claim the remains after the body has been cremated, Winter said.

"We will hold it for one year," he said.

It will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in East Los Angeles, he said.

Tullis' niece, Helen Cunningham, said she plans to pick up the remains when the coroner makes them available.

Cunningham said she was pleased to learn that her aunt will finally be laid to rest, and her wishes carried out, she said.

She wanted to be cremated, said Cunningham, "She didn't want any dirt on her."

Tullis died November 11 due to injuries she received in an October 14 motorycle accident in Azusa, coroner's officials said.

She was recouperating from two broken legs and other injuries at the Rio Hondo Convalescent Hospital until November 10, when she was rushed to Beverly Hospital after complaining of stomach pain, disorientation, and other symptoms, where she died the following morning, Winter said after the coroner s examination was completed in January.

If no one claims the remains within a year, it will buried in a common grave, he said.

Thank You for the help with this. Rusty deserves to be laid to rest per her wishes. Would've really been nice if the Hollywood types would've stepped up and helped out. Cher, Sam Elliot, Eric Stoltz, etc. Just to name a few.

Thanks again Eddie,
Dave

I spoke to share shortly after I heard of Rusty's death and we decided to make a donation for $100,000 to UCLA for more research for Craniodiaphyseal Dysplasia. I was saddened to hear of Rusty's death but knew of her lifestyle and was pleased she made it to the age of 70. She can now rest in peace with her two sons Rusty and Joshua.
RIP Rusty

Is there some place to send a donation to? I would like to know so that I can send something to that fund. I know she lead her life not like most would choose, but she doesnt deserve to pay for it after death as well. She needs to be laid to rest properly. If you know where donations could be sent please let me know.
Rest In Peace Rusty, Rocky and Joshua. May you all meet again.
Sharon
