Contest offers $300 reward

Some lucky fourth graders will soon add to their savings by winning the 10th Annual Water Awareness Poster Contest sponsored by the California Farm Water Coalition.

The top three winners will receive $150, $100 and $50 U.S. Savings Bonds. Teachers of the top three entries will also each receive a $100 cash award for classroom supplies.

The contest recognizes "Water Awareness Month" in May and emphasizes how California farmers use water to produce food and fiber.

The contest is open to all California fourth grade students enrolled in public and private schools, including home schools. An April 10 deadline date has been set for acceptance of all entries.

Contest guidelines may be found at www.farmwater.org

Winners and those receiving honorable mention in this year's contest will be featured on the coalition's website.

The California Farm Water Coalition is the state's only agricultural water organization in California that deals solely in farm water education to the public.

Its membership includes individuals, irrigation districts and agricultural businesses throughout the state that represent more than 6 million irrigated acres in California.

Last year's posters may be viewed by visiting the Kids section at the coalition website.
