Chaffey College President admitted to hospital

Chaffey College President Henry Shannon was admitted into the hospital for observation purposes last night.

In an E-mail Shannon said he was informed that there is a growth on one of his kidneys that needs to be treated as soon as possible.

"The specialists will be monitoring my health and running various tests which should give them a better idea of how to handle my treatment," Shannon said in the E-mail.

He continued to say he would be off work, away from campus, for the next couple of weeks and in his absence Steve Menzel will continue as acting Superintendent/President.

"I feel confident that the college will continue to operate smoothly with the ongoing support of the administrative team and our fine faculty and staff," Shannon said.

"Until I recuperate, my doctors have directed me to limit my communication, both written and verbal, so I ask that all communication be conducted through my office," he said.
