Monte Vista Water District announces poster winners

Monte Vista Water District recently announced the winners of its annual "Water is Life" art poster contest.

The contest was open to students enrolled in K-12 grades schools within the water district's service area, who were requested to create an art poster depicting various water uses or water conservation topics. 

The water district received 185 entries representing 11 classrooms in six schools. 
K-3 grade division winners:

First place winner was third-grader Rebecca Schober Lyle Briggs Fundamental School in Chino.
Second place winner was third-grader Susana Ferris of Lyle Briggs Fundamental School in Chino.
Third place winner was second-grade Vanessa Sagredo at Howard Elementary School in Montclair.
Grades 4- 6 Division Winners:
First Place: Cassidy Sapien, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, Montclair
Second Place: Yessica Gonzalez, Grade 4, Monte Vista Elementary School, Montclair
Third Place: Anjaly Cruz, Grade 4, Briggs Fundamental School, Chino

Grades 7-12 Division Winners:
First Place: Kendall Langrell, Grade 8
Second Place: Victoria Contreras, Grade 8
Third Place: Kylie Gutierrez, Grade 8,
School: Briggs Fundamental School, Chino

Winning posters were submitted to Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, who is conducting a regional art poster contest in which 36 winning posters will be selected out of several hundred entries from water agencies throughout southern California. 

Winners will be announced in early fall and recognized at a special event in early December.

Winners of the Monte Vista Water District contest received gift cards to a book store and an awards certificate. Teachers of contest winners received gift cards to a school supply store. 

Members of the Board of Directors, Sandra Rose, president, and Tony Lopez, director/auditor, presented the awards in the winners' classrooms and at school awards events.

Monte Vista Water District provides retail and wholesale water services to a population of over 134,000 in the communities of Montclair, Chino Hills, and portions of Chino.
