Rosemead charter city proposal fails
ROSEMEAD - Voters widely rejected a proposal to make Rosemead a charter city rather than a general law city.
Measure CC, as the initiative is known, failed 63 percent to 37 percent.
The measure would have given the city council greater autonomy from the state legislature in local regulations.
It also would have set term limits for city council members of three, four-year terms, or 12 consecutive years.
Supporters said it would have put more power in the hands of Rosemead residents.
Opponents charged it was unnecessary
and would have allowed city council members to set their own
salaries.
Rosemead will remain a general law city, meaning
it is bound by the state's general law, regardless of whether the law
concerns a municipal affair.
Term limits for councilmen could be implemented through other means.

I am glad the voters of Rosemead turned out and voted down CC!!!
Please do your job and do not fall prey to investors that want to line your pockets they did not elect you your constituents did!

We have seen a lot of changes over the years, what we have seen most recently is upsetting.
What ever happened to a city council that looked out for the city not their own agenda?
A big thank-you to those of you who voted no on CC
Thank You M. Clark for looking out for us. You will always have our support.
It is up to us to keep our city council in check.
Keep it up.
It's good to see we have concerned residents in the city who don't want Tran and his girl friend Polly to take over
completely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is too bad we did not vote down that monstrosity they built on Mission Dr. We need to clean house in the city of Rosemead. All you scoundrels’ must go
What a sad day in Rosemead. A big thank you for voting against CC, now we have ALL city councilmembers for along thime, which I hope is not long!
Thank you Mrs clark for saving us from all those asian developers bringing in their way of life. Don't they get it that this is america and the language here is american. Again, we need more people like councilwoman Clark to look out for us americans.
i am also glad that this proposition got rejected. the council members, along with our crooked mayor, are definitely looking out for their own interest. i am glad that my fellow residents in rosemead did not fall for yet another personal propaganda scheme.
as for the fellow "american" resident commenting on the fact that asian developers are bringing in their way of life, i do not apologize for the fact that there's a growing population of asians in the sgv. but please understand, due to the language barrier and the lack of education of certain laws and propositions, our "leaders," i.e. council members and mayor, are fully taking advantage the asian community.
for example, did you know they come knocking door-to-door and press many non-english speaking residents to sign certain petitions? they think they can get away with it, and they most likely have since most asians struggle with english, not to mention the ever-changing laws and ordinances within our city. so, with just a simple, b.s. explanation and enough pressure; done, we have a signature. yes, another sucker born every minute in our city!
so let's share the blame without singling anyone out and put it on the "leaders" in our community to act like real leaders and look out for the residents, not for themselves!!!
The language here is ENGLISH!!
