Spence gives endorsement to Poizner as governor

Local Republican activist Mike Spence has given his endorsement to Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Poizner, praising his conservative views.

"I can tell you that Steve Poizner is the most conservative person that can win in the gubernatorial race and the only candidate with a plan to cut taxes across-the-board," Spence said in a statement released this morning.

Spence is the immediate past president of the California Republican Assembly and president of the West Covina Unified School District Board of Education.

Spence blasted Poizner's rival for the GOP nomination, businesswoman Meg Whitman, for her pro-choice stance.

"Steve's opponent supports paying for abortions with tax dollars and that is unacceptable in a candidate for governor of our party," Spence said.

Spence Again said:

Poizner should just withdraw from the election. An endorsement by Spence is a political death sentence. Spence's endorsement means you lose the election.
