Winter's Eve

Rapper/Actress Eve has come a long way from her "Ruff Ryder" days, and since proved to have been a diamond in the rough. Apparently M.A.C. thought so too, making her one of the faces representing the wildly popular cosmetics brand last fall. Last week, Eve represented at the M.A.C. Cosmetics Dinner honoring Raquel Welch in New York City.

Eve completed the sophisticated look of her Grecian black and white gown with black satin peep toe heels by Rickard Shah.

But the Philly native knows that you can never completely get rid of the past, especially if it's peeking out from the top of your dress.

After the Party, It's the After Party...

Golden Globe winners, losers, attendees and non-invitees got together at various hot spots after the show for some celebrity-on-celebrity partying....

Eva Longoria, in Emanuel Ungaro, has nothing but love for singer Sheryl Crow at the In Style Magazine and Warner Bros. Studios Golden Globe After Party.

evacrow.jpg

Could they be saying to each other what I was thinking all along?
Eva to Sheryl: Which one of us will play Ariel in the Golden Globes production of "The Little Mermaid"?

evaandcrow.jpg

Maybe not.

But one thing's for sure, those "Desperate Housewives" stars sure like hugging a lot. Teri Hatcher (L) consoles Seinfeld alum, Julia Louis-Dreyfus after a failed attempt on Julia's part to convince Teri to trade in her gold Swarovski crystal "Carat" clutch for a guest starring role on Dreyfus' "The New Adventures of Old Christine."

AP_TeriHatcher.jpg

Or so it could seem.

Although she didn't win in her Golden Globe category, Katherine Heigl is all smiles with musician and fiancee Josh Kelley. Or is it the Chopard diamond drop earrings causing the butterflies in her stomach?

AP_KatherineHeigl.jpg

What we know for sure? Heigl took a page from the book of class last night with this Escada black strapless gown with fisihtail hem and train that did get to touch the stage with the "Grey's Anatomy" win in the Best TV Drama category.

AP_KatherineHeigl2.jpg

One can always find the silver lining in any beautiful dress...

Apparently this Escada is a popular designer (I keed!) as actress Yunjin Kim of the nominated "Lost" pulls off a white satin plunging neck gown by the fashion house, with a black beaded floral design and fellow "Lost" star, Daniel Dae Kim (no relation), decorating her waist.

AP_YunjinKim.jpg

Maybe if they change the show's name to "Won," they'll have a better chance of walking away with an award next time...just a thought.

On-screen tough girl Gabrielle Union practically floats through the Beverly Hilton-hosted shindig in a ethereal gold silk jersey one-shoulder gown by Jay Godfrey.

AP_GabrielleUnion.jpg

And the dress' pockets answers the always nagging question, "Where are my car keys?" Good thinking, Gaby.

Meanwhile, life of the party, funnyman and award winner (pick one) Jamie Foxx was already checkin for the next hot after party spot.

J_Foxx.jpg

I told him I'd meet him at the other entrance.

What's "Grey" and gold and winning me over? Chandra Wilson made me proud this time around (see: "The People Have Chosen") accessorizing this complimentary gold dress with minimal diamond jewelry (a ring and bracelet) by Kwiat.

AP_ChandraWilson.jpg

Even though his show "The Office" didn't win it's category, I still think Steve Carell, shown here with wife Nancy Walls at the NBC/Universal Golden Globe After Party, is still the funniest thing on the funniest show on TV.

AP_SteveCarrell.jpg

Now that's something worth celebrating, right?

"CSI: Miami" actress Sofia Milos keeps it (red) hot in the unusually cold L.A. evening wearing this Junko Yoshioka strapless dress, seen here at the In Style Magazine and Warner Bros. Studios Golden Globe After Party

AP_SofiaMilos.jpg

Other tips on staying warm? Keep it moving...

She's not the only one getting around...

At least his choices in hit roles are more consistent than his choices in parties. Keep it up!

The King's Queen

Keisha Whitaker, wife of Golden Globe nominee Forest Whitaker, made sure that win or no-win, her husband was going home with a prize. Donning a white Domenico Vacca silk boatneck gown, I think it's safe to assume that husband Whitaker won't be letting go of her Swarovski crystal adorned waist - unless it's to accept that Globe, of course.

"Ugly" Stars

Cast members of the hit ABC show "Ugly Betty" were a hit on the red carpet...and together had a large portion of the color wheel covered.

RACY RED: Ashley Jensen in a Junko Yoshioka draped column gown.

UB_AshleyJensen.jpg

EXQUISITE EMERALD: Becki Newton, in an off the shoulder Kevan Hall gown with front slit and train, accompanied by cast member Michael Urie sporting a BEAMING BLUE tie.

GLIMMERING GOLD: Vanessa Williams stays just as fabulous as her "Ugly" character, accessorizing with a Daniel Swarovski calfskin "Bel Air" clutch.

PROMISING PURPLE: Golden Globe nominee for Best Actress in a TV Comedy, America Ferrera, wears a big smile in hopes of walking away with a statue...looks promising to me!

UB_Americacloseup.jpg

Girly Girl...

Tina Fey, arrived at the Golden Globes as the opposite of her tomboy-ish "30 Rock" character, from the plunging neckline and belt-cinched waist to her (not-too-much)leg-baring silk bell-shaped skirt. The onyx and white paisley lace Kevan Hall creation transformed the funny girl into a girly girl worth spotlighting this evening...

TinaFey.jpg

...And in the hair maintanence department, she's one above her fellow SNL alums, David Spade and Will Ferrell.

Spade to Fey: What's your secret?

FeyANDSpade.jpg

Fey to Spade: A comb.

Larry, Mo and...

...Will? Apparently, the "Stranger Than Fiction" star spent so much time admiring his crisp midnight blue Domenico Vacca tuxedo, with white tuxedo shirt and silk tie, that he forgot to finish off the look with a haircut...

willFerrell2.jpg

One can only hope that the piece of equipment he's carrying comes with a pair of scissors.

willFerrell.jpg

I'd bet his wife is hoping the same thing...

Jennifer Love-Gold

Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt got into the Golden spirit with this Georges Chakra chiffon strpless gown.

jenniferlove.jpg

When it comes to the evening's festivities, it seems as though Hewitt goes for the more is more approach...

jenniferlove3.jpg

I like the dress Jenn, I do, but when it comes to mascara, think like a groupie at an NBA party - EAAAASY!

Little Miss Show-Stealer

Abigail Breslin, the youngest castmember of the nominated "Little Miss Sunshine," warms our hearts with a winning smile and winning accessories with these Harry Winston diamond loop earrings with 3-stone drop pendant.

Abigail Breslin.jpg

Alas, the red carpet hoopla seems to be grabbing less of Abigail's attention than her adorable little self is actually getting.

Abigail Breslin_yawn.jpg

Hang in there girl, only six more hours to go...

All That Glitters...

...Could be at this year's Golden Globes at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. As fashionistas and fashionmistas hit the red carpet, we ask the hard-hitting questions...or question, "Who Are (They) Wearing?"...for some, the question is better left unanswered.

Pretty Little Things

A few of my favorite accessories that were worth a second take.

Heidi Klum

The People Have Chosen...

...Now it's our turn. At last night's People's Choice Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, celebrities cleaned up and stepped out in their Tuesday's best. Here, we present the WAYW's Choice Awards:

1. Sexiest Slit Without a Britney Spears "Uh Oh" Moment
Winner: Ashley Scott
The "Jericho" actress walked the walk with just enough leg showing through her mahogany Kevan Hall jersey halter gown.
slitashleyscott.jpg

Runner Up: Tawny Cypress
One of the stars of the award-winning show "Heroes" put the "oh" in coral, choosing this chiffon strapless dress for her People's Choice debut.
slittawnycypress.jpg

2. Fanciest Back Support
Winner: Hayden Panettiere
The young beauty of NBC's "Heroes" complimented the red carpet with this Pamella Roland chiffon gown, delicately strapping her in for a secure ascent to the top of this category.
backsupport.jpg

Runner Up: Kate Walsh
Our favorite small screen adulteress, the "Grey's Anatomy" star seduces photographer lights with the crystal accented criss-cross back of her navy Escada jersey dress.
backsupport2.jpg

3. Most Multi-Functional Wardrobe
Winner: Jaime King
Although the deep blue of her Lanvin bubble dress has a calming effect, I cant help but wonder if her neck accessory doubles as some type of detatchable Batman-esque self-defense mechanism that is no longer allowed inside carry-on luggage.
jaimeking2.jpg

Runner Up: Carmen Electra
This lovely turquoise and gold braid-accented one-shoulder gown by new designer Jay Godfrey is appropriate for award shows as well as formal dinners at Roman palaces. Julius Caesar would be proud...
carmen.jpg

4. Best Color Coordinated Cast Members
Winners: Ali Larter, Hayden Panettiere and Tawny Cypress of "Heroes"
The result of seeing these three at last night's event is a winning spot in this category and a sudden urge for sorbet.
colorcoord2.jpg

Runners Up: Katherine Heigl and James Pickens Jr of "Grey's Anatomy"
The blue portrait neckline party dress and velvet blue blazer made a winning combination, until I started seeing red (literally) with Pickens' colorful argyle inclinations. Close, but no cigar.
colorcoord.jpg

5. Best Arm Candy
Winner: Rebecca Gayheart
All that shines was Gayheart in gold - completing her leg-baring tiered dress with a champagne satin Mary Norton origami-folded clutch that glittering with a Swarovski crystal encrusted jewel.
gayheartarmcandy2.jpg

Runner Up: Rebecca Gayheart
Not nearly as flashy but just as complimentary was Gayheart's husband, Eric Dane of "Grey's Anatomy." Priceless!
armcandygayheart2.jpg

6. Best Red Carpet Moves
Runners Up:
Sandra Oh ("Grey's Anatomy") for "the robot"
movessandraoh.jpg

and Ellen DeGeneres for "the halfway tip-toe Michael Jackson move"
movesdegeneres.jpg

Winner:
Jason Ritter for "the John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever"...
movesritter2.jpg

and "the Tom Cruise in...well, real life"
movesritter.jpg

7. The I Want You To Do Better At The SAG Awards Award
Winner: Chandra Wilson
The SAG-nominated actress of "Grey's Anatomy" may have won the top spot in the "Best Arm Candy" category with this lavendar crystal Gourmand clutch had I not been so distracted by the head-to-toe shine and wine of the rest of the ensemble.
blingbagchandra.jpg

Chandra, I love you, but next time think, 'less is more.'

8. Best Legs 40 and Over Award
Winner: Halle Berry
Oh, who are we kidding. Halle's legs rival those of any age bracket. I mean, at some point, we stop asking "Who are you wearing" and just "How?"
legshalle.jpg

legshalle2.jpg

Runner Up: Vanessa Williams
Another ageless beauty, the "Ugly Betty" star looked ready for fun in this jazzy navy silk chiffon cocktail dress with crystal beaded trim by Escada.
vanessawilliams.jpg

vanessa2.jpg

9. I'm the King of the World! Award
Winner: Masi Oka
Actor Oka can celebrate all he wants with his show "Heroes" ending the night as the People's Choice for best New Drama.
king.jpg
"I'm the King of the World!"

Runner Up: Tracy Morgan
With the rising popularity of "30 Rock," Morgan could possibly snag the winning spot of this category and the People's Choice for best New Comedy next year...so go on and yell one out too!
kingmorgan.jpg

10. Shameless Plug Award
Winner: LL Cool J
LL decided to forgo a date and bring his new book to the People's Choice Awards. I'd say something smart about there being a time and a place for such things...but I seem to be distracted by the glare from those......wow, what was I saying?
shamelessplug.jpg

Runner Up: I forget

CONGRATULATIONS to the winners, and we'll see you at the next show...

A+ For Swank

For Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank, it's not the size that matters...especially when it comes to Chopard. The recent recipient of a Hollywood Star rocked the red carpet with two appropriately subtle rocks set in 18K white gold on her ears (also wore: diamond Chopard bracelet), courtesy of the luxury jewelry designer, at last Thursday night's premiere of "Freedom Writers" at Westwood's Village Mann theater.

HilarySwank-premiere1-4-07.jpg

Paparazzi: Can we get another look at those Hilary?

swank.jpg

Thanks.

So how excited was she to shed her "Freedom" character's drab teacher's wardrobe and slip into something diamond?

swank2.jpg

Producer Stacey Sher (to Hilary): We've burned the last of the polyester and those loafers you wore in the movie.

I'd guess very.

Of course, if it means sharing a scene with Patrick "McCan-I-Just-Touch-Your-Hair" Dempsey...

(I'm not mad at ya, Hilary.)

'Alpha' Female

At the Los Angeles premiere of "Alpha Dog" Wednesday night, actress Sharon Stone (who, in addition to Alpha Dog, had a busy 2006 with a role in "Bobby" and has wrapped two more films set to release in 2007) emerged the alpha star with style in her Rachel Roy sleek 'Layla' turtleneck and belt waist ruffled 'Ruth' trench.

sharonstone_alpha.jpg

Her head to toe black-wear was all about the details - from the pouf sleeves, butterfly broach and skinny headband to the black jewelery adorning her ears and wrist - and outshined even the brightest of the attendees' outfits, which included fellow "Alpha" castmember Dominique Swain, who looked pretty in pink stretch satin by David Meister.

dominiqueswain_alpha.jpg

Swain showed off her acting skills as she decided between seductress...

dominiqueswain_alpha2.jpg

...and schoolgirl (or is that Kirsten Dunst?) while posing for the cameras.

dominiqueswain_alpha3.jpg

Don't worry Swain, you'll have plenty of time to figure it out.

As for Stone, with over two decades in the business, she's settled on something along the lines of classy. The always transforming Stone arguably looks just as good if not better than her "Basic Instinct" and "Casino" days.

sharonstone_alpha2.jpg

But things were different then (and by things, I mean hair, and by different, i mean worse). But one thing that doesn't change is Stone holds her own inside the boys club that is Hollywood (shown below with "Alpha" boys including director Nick Cassavetes, far left, and Justin Timberlake).

alphacast.jpg

Kudos!
