The Portia de Rossi Show

They say that when couples are together long enough, they start to look alike.

Nahhh, I don't see it. I mean, Ellen's cool, but Portia is...wearing this silk Catherine Malandrino dress like only she can.

The former "Arrested Development" star is mostly seen as the leading lady in Ellen's life, but all those in favor of seeing more Portia on the small screen, say "I."

Maybe NBC can work out some joint-hosting situation for the two: The Ellen DeRossi Show??

(Aaaand, action.)

It could work.

Real Women Have Curves.

Curves come in handy when you're wearing a dress.

Just ask Marcia Gay Harden or Kelly Preston, who walked the red carpet at the Hollywood Film Festival's Hollywood (did we mention Hollywood?) Awards last night in...Beverly Hills (haha, gotchya there).

It was only a few blogs ago that I was given Marcia her kudos, and now she's back, fly, again.

And fortunately for John Travolta, wifey Preston is looking the part of a star for the both of them.

Peek-A-Boo...

...We see you, Daphne Zuniga.

The actress wore this business in the front, party in the (low-cut) back dress by Pamella Roland to Saturday's Season 5 premiere screening of "Nip/Tuck" in Hollywood.

No word yet on whether or not any nipping or tucking was involved in the putting on of this dress. But, come on, does it really matter?

Is that you, Veronica?

I must admit, I never watched that "Veronica Mars" much....ok, at all. I think I caught the first 5 minutes of one episode after a new drama-filled, Tyra-filled episode of "Top Model." Even though it wasn't my cup of tea, I guess it did pretty well.

But I sure don't remember Kristen Bell, who played the lead teen in this "OC" meets "Law and Order" type (drama?), looking like this.

REMINDER of LIFE ON 'MARS':

kristenbell-786380.jpg

I know it was her character, but still. She's definitely been out and about looking blog-worthy, no? But then, I guess riding the wave of the hit "Heroes" as the newest add to the cast can be pretty inspiring as well

But I guess it was only a matter of time. One can focus on such things as upping your style quotient when not carrying the weight of a less-than-stellar network. My favorite was this bronze Tadashi Shoji dress she wore to Elle Magazine's Women in Hollywood event on Monday.

Way to kick off LA Fashion Week right!

Kristen, now that you have powers...think you can save some other starlets from fashion disaster? Just a thought.

Dresses of the Purple Variety

One's won an Oscar and the other's bound to get one! In addition to their on screen sucess, both Marcia Gay Harden and Natalie Portman succeeded on the red carpet of last Friday's American Cinematheque Awards in Beverly Hills.

MGHarden.jpg

Looks like this "Into the Wild" star has been into the gym lately, looking so so not 40-something in this David Meister satin gown.

But then again, she's always been a pretty fly momma (literally, she's a momma of 3).

To 2006 Miss Universe Zuleyka Rivera (l, above): As bright as your dress is, you're still being outshined by the lovely Harden. Take notes (20 years worth).

Back in Beverly Hills:

Natalie Portman also went ga-ga for a gown in a purple hue, opting for a simple yet elegant form-fitting satin strapless.

I don't know about that little sack thing as an accessory...

...but it's good to know Portman is bringing classy back to the young Hollywood set (once again, take notes!).

The Many Hemlines of Joss Stone

Joss Stone arrived at the "Frosted Pink: Putting Women's Cancer on Ice" awareness event (airing Oct. 14 on ABC) in an appropriately hued satin Dina Bar-El halter.

77216596.jpg

Love the dress - the background, not so much. "Metal fence and empty lot with truck adorned with Do Not Enter signage" is not my idea of festive.

Thankfully, conditions were much better indoors at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. Joss Stone hit the stage in a less-colorful mini dress complimented by....an equally mini'd Natalie Cole.

77215945.jpg

Two for two!

Much like her solo musical endeavors, the third time was a charm for this (back to) colorful fit for her choir-backed performance.

77214350.jpg

77214326.jpg

Other Pink-thinking do-gooders included actress Eva La Rue, in a David Meister black and white satin dress, and singer Babyface, who also performed at the event.

77215030.jpg

William Baldwin expressed his shared interest in finding a cure for breast cancer (his mother is said to be a passionate advocate) with his presence, as well as with an 18K white gold pin designed by Mikimoto (from a special collection to benefit breast cancer awareness).

Speaking of statement-making accessories (and the men who wear them), do you think singer Ne-Yo (above) will voluntarily end his reign as R&Bs most soulful mad hatter, right now?

(It's totally OK if he doesn't, but...I was just wondering.)

Going for Gold...

At a screening of "The Darjeeling Limited," two women battled it out for the role of Red Carpet's golden girl. Luckily, they were an ocean (and a month) apart...But STILL, fashion knows no time (or geography), no?

Whatever.

(You can imagine the glitter-on-glitter drama that would have ensued, no?)
