The bar has been raised lowered set.

The annual NAACP Image Awards aired last night. So if you decided not to acknowledge the fact that it was...you know....Valentine's Day, you may have caught it (with a pint of ice cream in hand...hey, no judgement!).
Some cheerful colors (and winners) made their way down the red carpet.
Vanessa Williams won an award for her role in "Ugly Betty" and a thumbs up in our book for her toned down and tone-complimenting look with this dress by Zuhair Murad.
UPN WB CW's "The Game" stars Tia Mowry and the ha-larious Wendy Raquel Robinson made an appearance before the network changed it's name and cancelled thier show, too (RIP: "Girlfriends").
Wendy: My secret to this body is running, pilates, and carrying much of the success of the show on my shoulders...and a balanced diet.
Tia and Holly Robinson Peete (below) were one of a few actresses who chose dresses by Farah Angsana, with colors and embrodery reflective of the designer's Southeast Asian roots:
Robin Givens??
Where you been, girl?
Yeah, beats us, too! Last time we saw you, it was on BET's 525th weekend showing of "Boomerang" (1992). You know, back when Eddie Murphy was...normal? (Relatively.)
Oh, I see. The man with the box office-topping touch. Forget Buddha, Tyler Perry's is the belly to rub in Black Hollywood.
(Getty Images)
If there's one big award show where the usual red carpet etiquette goes out the window...it's probably at the Grammys.
Ahhh, musicians. Try that one at the Oscars.
If they're not bucking the world, they're bucking red carpet fashion rules (some for the better...others, not so much).
So, here are some bold looks from the evening...the rest I leave for you to decide:
Jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater.

(There. Now you'll never forget.)
Singer Kelis recalls the golden era...

...That is, the era in which gold was IN and hotter than spandex on a warm LA evening.
Great Scots!...

...Oh, it's just Bai Ling.
Message for Cyndi Lauper...

...Morticia Addams' called. She wants her swagger back.

I know, Fantasia. I have a hard time making decisions, too.
It's not your fault Billy Joe.

I blame the parents.
(Getty Images)
Not to take away from what both Chris Brown and Fergie's looks say individually...
(Getty Images)
But something about them posing together here is making me very, very...
Fire the publicists and fire up the grill!
Ladies in such flattering (and flirty) blues are making us see green...(*chanting* Thou shall not hate!)
The always wow-ing pop star Rihanna went big on frills in this bright blue mini and added some sparkle with a Chopard diamond barrel cuff...
...while the more soulful Corinne Bailey Rae stepped her style game up and let the dress do the talking singing.
Nelly Furtado and Beyonce's blue ambitions top off the sea-inspired looks of some of the Grammy's most popular guests.
(Getty Images)
Songstresses at the top of their game keep photogs guessing.
Alicia Keys in navy halter by Armani Privé.

Carrie Underwood in floral halter by Zuhair Murad.
(Getty Images)
Can you hear it? It's coming. The Grammys are tonight. Rockers will be anxiously gelling down their sideburns, poppers will be simultaneously slapping and hugging their assistants ("BFFs for life, bi-otch!")...
...and Jon Voigt will be selling tickets to the show at half price in front of the STAPLES Center a half hour before curtain call (but you didn't hear that from me).
Can't wait!
(Getty Images)
Even though it was the Screen Actors Guild Awards, my personal fav to see on the red carpet is the wife of actor Forest Whitaker, Keisha.
She's always fresh-faced and las night looked flawless in pink and sparkled with the help of her this Daniel Swarovski clutch.
I know she's not acting...but give the lady an award for something already.
Presenter: For her role as the model turned mama and wife of an Oscar-winner working the red carpet...Keisha Whitaker. *Applause*
(Getty Images)
The mermaid look was not in short supply at SAG as ladies allowed for just enough room between fabric and leg to strut down the red carpet gracefully.
"Ugly Betty" star Ana Ortiz did it in a black Pamela Dennis strapless with a dramatic "umbrella" hem...
...while "Hairspray's" bright-eyed Brittany Snow did it in a sequin gown with chiffon hem by Zuhair Murad...
(Getty Images)
A complete 180 from the blue (blah) scrubs, TV doc Sandra Oh went ultra girlie with this pink bow-embellished dress, and Mikimoto diamond drop earrings...
...while Becki Newton, staying true to her fashionista "Ugly Betty" character, showed her softer side with this cascading chiffon dress by Elsie Katz.
(Getty Images)
Golden Globes got the boot and Oscars are getting a shake down. But you (yes, you) wished hard enough, and you got a cruel-free SAG Awards tonight in a rainy - (or are those Hillary's tears?) - LA.
Dust off the red carpet...it's been awhile...and may be awhile longer.
(Getty Images)
Curves come in handy when you're wearing a dress.
Just ask Marcia Gay Harden or Kelly Preston, who walked the red carpet at the Hollywood Film Festival's Hollywood (did we mention Hollywood?) Awards last night in...Beverly Hills (haha, gotchya there).

(in David Meister)

(in Tadashi)
It was only a few blogs ago that I was given Marcia her kudos, and now she's back, fly, again.
And fortunately for John Travolta, wifey Preston is looking the part of a star for the both of them.

(Ways to get back to your "Look Who's Talking" days....Step 1: Lose the 1997 junior high, Backstreet Boys part in your hair, Johnny boy.....Kelly, you take it from there.)
(Getty Images)
One's won an Oscar and the other's bound to get one! In addition to their on screen sucess, both Marcia Gay Harden and Natalie Portman succeeded on the red carpet of last Friday's American Cinematheque Awards in Beverly Hills.

Looks like this "Into the Wild" star has been into the gym lately, looking so so not 40-something in this David Meister satin gown.
But then again, she's always been a pretty fly momma (literally, she's a momma of 3).
Side-but-still-related pic:

(@ Hamptons Magazine-hosted Volvo store opening in NY last month)
To 2006 Miss Universe Zuleyka Rivera (l, above): As bright as your dress is, you're still being outshined by the lovely Harden. Take notes (20 years worth).
Back in Beverly Hills:
Natalie Portman also went ga-ga for a gown in a purple hue, opting for a simple yet elegant form-fitting satin strapless.

I don't know about that little sack thing as an accessory...

...but it's good to know Portman is bringing classy back to the young Hollywood set (once again, take notes!).

"Shall we, Mr. Piven?"

Sally Field.

Katherine Heigl.

Heidi Klum (come on, this one was a freebee!)

Mary-Louise Parker.

Ellen Pompeo.
(Getty Images)
Comedy isn't the only thing these TV star-ahs have in common. And although there's nothing funny about their Emmy style, I'm pretty sure laughter isn't the response they were going for, anyway.

(My Name is Earl's Jaime Pressly in St. John Couture)

(The Office's Jenna Fischer in Zuhair Murad)

(The New Adventures of Old Christine's Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Narciso Rodriguez)

(Back To You's Patricia Heaton in Pamela Dennis)
...you know, the ones with the double-stuffed chiffon in the middle?

(l to r: Ugly Betty stars Michael Urie, Becki Newton, and Ana Ortiz in Escada.)
(Getty Images)
With hit shows under both these talented actress' belts, these newlyweds will be putting miles on many more red carpets to come.

(Kate Walsh in Pamela Dennis WITH hubby Alex Young)

(Marcia Cross in Georges Chakra WITH hubby Tom Mahoney)
(Getty Images)
Uh oh. Somebody peeped somebody's neckline and made it their own. But I doubt that there'll be any hurt feelings about it. I mean, Patricia Arquette is nominated for an Emmy and Glenn Close, well, she's Glenn Close!

Arquette in Pamella Roland.

Close in Giorgio Armani.
(Getty Images)
Just stepped on the red carpet? Don't just stand there like a deer caught in the headlights. Do something! Or just follow the lead of these lovely ladies.

Our entry for this year's "Steppin it Up for '07" category is Chris "Ludacris" Bridges - rapper, actor and style savvy entrepreneur - who has grown up and grown into his crocodile loafers (seen below).

Bridges picked up a real award at Movieline's Hollywood Life Young Hollywood Awards last Sunday wearing a black Ferragamo corduroy suit and black shadow stripe shirt.

(Getty)
It was just last summer that the clever (and often comical) Atlanta-based artist cut off his braids that remained a signature part of his look over the span of his almost 7 year music career. Branching out into acting and working out of his own studio in Atlanta, Bridges is getting a lot more love for his work and his threads...

(Bridges, Today's Superstar Award, last Sunday)
With growing fame in Hollywood, we have just one tip: Don't unravel.
The original Idol winner is still winning fans everywhere almost five years after she was first introduced to America's text-voting public.
Then:

Was that mean? I'm just sayin...Ms. Clarkson has come a long way from the confused look (am i a vampire? am i a beach-bound 12-year-old?) of her earlier years. Last night, Clarkson (lwho has long been standing strong on her own two feet in the music industry post-Idol, I might add) attended the ASCAP Pop Music Awards at the Kodak Theatre rigged out in a Monique Lhuillier moss green chiffon dress accented by a pearl neckline.

In addition to the red carpet, Clarkson also took a stroll across the stage to accept her award (one of three that night) at an event that honors the songwriters/brains behind some of today's most popular songs.

For KClark (uh, remind me to never call her that again), it was a win-win-win-WIN situation. Not only did she receive many accolades...but the award coordinated very well with her very grown up threads.

Who knew?
(I bet Kelly did. Yeeeah she did.)
Keep it up girl!
Sara Ramirez, always the scene stealer in ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," was the star of the red carpet at Saturday's GLAAD Media Awards at LA's Kodak Theatre wearing a David Meister satin slip dress with ruched bodice that hugged (and loved) the curvy actress.

Out supporting her show, which was nominated for Outstanding Individual Episode, this do-good girl (in association with Dove) is also a part of the "Campaign for Real Beauty" encouraging women of all ages to embrace and love their bodies...now that's a platform I can stand by.
Meister was also the choice for known actress and, in recent years, better-known activist Holly Robinson Peete (featured on the cover of this month's Essence magazine), as she hit the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel dance floor in a red silk dress at last Friday's 14th Annual Race To Erase MS "Dance to Erase MS"-themed gala.

Other supporters of the event included a new and improved Tara Reid (2007 has certainly been good to Ms. Reid), in a turquoise gown with black lace trim by Dina Bar-El, and TV Personality Stacy Keibler in a light pink silk and chiffon babydoll dress by the same designer (accented by a silver clutch and crystal earrings by Daniel Swarovski Paris).

And Oscar probably isn't the only one preparing for the 79th Annual Academy Awards show this evening by spray painting his face...whether the stars look as good as the statue after doing so is the question.
WAYW is scoping the style scene on Hollywood's most glamorous night. Can you feel the pressure???
JOHN LEGEND

L: Oh, I love Johnny...but not the after 6 open bowtie look
WAYW: Why not....he's John Legend!
B: I actually like this look...it's got swagger.
L: It just looks sooo contrived... I'm thinkin they could have added some chest hair too and rolled him down the red carpet sitting at his piano singing "MAKE ROOM for my love!"...
FERGIE

WAYW: Those SHOES
L: Those shoes are hot!
B: it makes the outfit
WAYW: What kind of silver would you call this?
L: It's a gun metal - we've got gun metal silver.
WAYW: She looks like she just might shoot somebody too...maybe we should move on.
PINK

B: Ok, Pink looks good.
WAYW: So little to say when you actually like something, eh? Ha ha...
NE-YO

B: Ahh, Ne-Yo
WAYW: I love Ne-Yo but....
B: "Jacket by Nintendo"
WAYW: Very Tetris-inspired, yes.
B: See, he looks like he got a bunch of friends to dress him...and he just showed up in a white dress shirt and dress pants like, "Help me out, guys!"
L: He kinda looks like the unibomber with those sunglasses...I love Ne-Yo though
WAYW: Way to clean that one up.
LUDACRIS

B: Good suit. Classic grey. Ludacris Grows Up!
WAYW: This is the way to do gray.
B: Get the designer, please
WAYW: And the blue shirt combo...love it.
B: Good shoes. Good tie.
L: Nice cut on the suit, falls well on the shoes...alright Luda, you are looking good!
WAYW: And the word of the evening is...
PUSSYCAT DOLLS

L: I like #3 and #5.
B: No, no, no, no, no aaaand no.
WAYW: They match then...
L: They do NOT match.
WAYW: They do when they're all unflattering dresses...
B: I'm having a childhood flashback.
WAYW: Oh!!! They totally bit Jem's style...
MARY J. BLIGE

L: Mary looks good.
B: I like the top...I like her hair up too.
WAYW: We got sequins people!
B: And I like that it's belted instead of sashed.
WAYW: She looks comfortable with herself, just beautiful...I love you Mary!!!!!!...but I could be biased.
CHRISTINA RICCI IN CHOPARD JEWELRY

B: Oh, thank GOD!
WAYW: She's been looking much better now a days.
L: I like the dress...it has character. Especially the trim...what is that, croc?
WAYW: Sequins...your favorite.
B: It bodes well for her that she's not doing the same thing as everyone else
WAYW: Yes. Go Christina!
L: The pattern threw me off at first -
B: But it's daring enough for the Grammys
WAYW: She is proof that a stylist is a good investment.
B: While everyone else looks like they went shopping together at Macy's...it's the Grammys!
NATASHA BEDINGFIELD IN GEORGES CHAKRA

WAYW: Who is she?
B: Singer...you know all those songs you hear on the WB? That's her...
L: Her dress says, 80s futuristic.
B: So the theme of this year's Grammy fashion is "Movies Mariah Carey Shouldn't Have Done."
WAYW: Ohhh...What is "Glitter," Alex.
B: It's killing me...I don't like it, boring.
WAYW: Tough crowd! I dont know if she has enough fabric on top though...one wrong move..
L: The dress looks like a Betsy Johnson reject.
WAYW: She looks like Betsy Johnson's mini me?
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE IN PRADA

WAYW: Did he mean to match the backdrop?
B: Return of the Shiny Suit.
WAYW: He looks like a grown up...I like gray for an event like this.
B: He looks like Dick Clark's mini me
WAYW: He's bringing corporate back!
B: I don't know if a glittery tie would work for corporate.
L: I think the backdrop was a clash he couldn't have expected.
WAYW: We'll blame it on the backdrop then.
B: He still looks like Dick Clark's mini me.
CARRIE UNDERWOOD IN MONIQUE L'HUILLIER and BEAUDRY JEWELRY

L: Another American Idol sucess
WAYW: Those earrings!
B: (closer look at jewlery) "You sing country, huh?"
WAYW: That ring's so big i have to give it a separate greeting
B: She's like Glenda the Good Witch of De Beers (diamonds)
WAYW: Hello Mr. Chopard.

B: Glitter seems to works for her...on the dress, on her skin, on her ears/hand/wrist...
WAYW: Can we go back to the other photo again...this dress isn't all that spectacular.
L: Just saw the dress - I see the Glenda resemblance...all she needs is a wand.
WAYW: But it wouldn't have gone with all that jewelry.
L: Yeah, whatever...I'm signing up for A.I. next season, dammit.
SCARLETT JOHANSSON IN MONIQUE L'HUILLIER

B: Who is she wearing?
WAYW: Monique L'Huillier
B: Oh...I would've expected better from both of them.
L: Her shoes look like cow hoofs
B: Fine for a cocktail party...not so much for the red carpet
WAYW: Not a good look for her shape
L: Why is she at the grammys?
B: She looks great for drinks at The Standard...which is where she was probably headed.
VANESSA MINNILLO IN KEVAN HALL

WAYW: I like it! She looks nice...
L: I am a fan of silver...overall though, it's a win
B: Does nothing for her shape...overall, a bore. (yawns and puts on sunglasses)

Welcome to another installment of WAYW's Red Carpet fashion recap...
Since I can't be on the red carpet myself tonight, I'm coming to you live from my red couch...and I have some special guests with me. B suffers from chronic bag-envy and L is excited about the comeback of rhinestones and sequins. They also happen to be my roommates and none of us really want to the dishes right now so...
Here goes it!
Keisha Whitaker, wife of Golden Globe nominee Forest Whitaker, made sure that win or no-win, her husband was going home with a prize. Donning a white Domenico Vacca silk boatneck gown, I think it's safe to assume that husband Whitaker won't be letting go of her Swarovski crystal adorned waist - unless it's to accept that Globe, of course.

(AP Photo)
Cast members of the hit ABC show "Ugly Betty" were a hit on the red carpet...and together had a large portion of the color wheel covered.
RACY RED: Ashley Jensen in a Junko Yoshioka draped column gown.

EXQUISITE EMERALD: Becki Newton, in an off the shoulder Kevan Hall gown with front slit and train, accompanied by cast member Michael Urie sporting a BEAMING BLUE tie.

GLIMMERING GOLD: Vanessa Williams stays just as fabulous as her "Ugly" character, accessorizing with a Daniel Swarovski calfskin "Bel Air" clutch.

PROMISING PURPLE: Golden Globe nominee for Best Actress in a TV Comedy, America Ferrera, wears a big smile in hopes of walking away with a statue...looks promising to me!

Tina Fey, arrived at the Golden Globes as the opposite of her tomboy-ish "30 Rock" character, from the plunging neckline and belt-cinched waist to her (not-too-much)leg-baring silk bell-shaped skirt. The onyx and white paisley lace Kevan Hall creation transformed the funny girl into a girly girl worth spotlighting this evening...

...And in the hair maintanence department, she's one above her fellow SNL alums, David Spade and Will Ferrell.
Spade to Fey: What's your secret?

Fey to Spade: A comb.
...Will? Apparently, the "Stranger Than Fiction" star spent so much time admiring his crisp midnight blue Domenico Vacca tuxedo, with white tuxedo shirt and silk tie, that he forgot to finish off the look with a haircut...

One can only hope that the piece of equipment he's carrying comes with a pair of scissors.

I'd bet his wife is hoping the same thing...
Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt got into the Golden spirit with this Georges Chakra chiffon strpless gown.

When it comes to the evening's festivities, it seems as though Hewitt goes for the more is more approach...

I like the dress Jenn, I do, but when it comes to mascara, think like a groupie at an NBA party - EAAAASY!
Abigail Breslin, the youngest castmember of the nominated "Little Miss Sunshine," warms our hearts with a winning smile and winning accessories with these Harry Winston diamond loop earrings with 3-stone drop pendant.

Alas, the red carpet hoopla seems to be grabbing less of Abigail's attention than her adorable little self is actually getting.

Hang in there girl, only six more hours to go...
...Could be at this year's Golden Globes at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. As fashionistas and fashionmistas hit the red carpet, we ask the hard-hitting questions...or question, "Who Are (They) Wearing?"...for some, the question is better left unanswered.

Stay Tuned...
A few of my favorite accessories that were worth a second take.

...Now it's our turn. At last night's People's Choice Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, celebrities cleaned up and stepped out in their Tuesday's best. Here, we present the WAYW's Choice Awards:
1. Sexiest Slit Without a Britney Spears "Uh Oh" Moment
Winner: Ashley Scott
The "Jericho" actress walked the walk with just enough leg showing through her mahogany Kevan Hall jersey halter gown.

Runner Up: Tawny Cypress
One of the stars of the award-winning show "Heroes" put the "oh" in coral, choosing this chiffon strapless dress for her People's Choice debut.

2. Fanciest Back Support
Winner: Hayden Panettiere
The young beauty of NBC's "Heroes" complimented the red carpet with this Pamella Roland chiffon gown, delicately strapping her in for a secure ascent to the top of this category.

Runner Up: Kate Walsh
Our favorite small screen adulteress, the "Grey's Anatomy" star seduces photographer lights with the crystal accented criss-cross back of her navy Escada jersey dress.

3. Most Multi-Functional Wardrobe
Winner: Jaime King
Although the deep blue of her Lanvin bubble dress has a calming effect, I cant help but wonder if her neck accessory doubles as some type of detatchable Batman-esque self-defense mechanism that is no longer allowed inside carry-on luggage.

Runner Up: Carmen Electra
This lovely turquoise and gold braid-accented one-shoulder gown by new designer Jay Godfrey is appropriate for award shows as well as formal dinners at Roman palaces. Julius Caesar would be proud...

4. Best Color Coordinated Cast Members
Winners: Ali Larter, Hayden Panettiere and Tawny Cypress of "Heroes"
The result of seeing these three at last night's event is a winning spot in this category and a sudden urge for sorbet.

Runners Up: Katherine Heigl and James Pickens Jr of "Grey's Anatomy"
The blue portrait neckline party dress and velvet blue blazer made a winning combination, until I started seeing red (literally) with Pickens' colorful argyle inclinations. Close, but no cigar.

5. Best Arm Candy
Winner: Rebecca Gayheart
All that shines was Gayheart in gold - completing her leg-baring tiered dress with a champagne satin Mary Norton origami-folded clutch that glittering with a Swarovski crystal encrusted jewel.

Runner Up: Rebecca Gayheart
Not nearly as flashy but just as complimentary was Gayheart's husband, Eric Dane of "Grey's Anatomy." Priceless!

6. Best Red Carpet Moves
Runners Up:
Sandra Oh ("Grey's Anatomy") for "the robot"

and Ellen DeGeneres for "the halfway tip-toe Michael Jackson move"

Winner:
Jason Ritter for "the John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever"...

and "the Tom Cruise in...well, real life"

7. The I Want You To Do Better At The SAG Awards Award
Winner: Chandra Wilson
The SAG-nominated actress of "Grey's Anatomy" may have won the top spot in the "Best Arm Candy" category with this lavendar crystal Gourmand clutch had I not been so distracted by the head-to-toe shine and wine of the rest of the ensemble.

Chandra, I love you, but next time think, 'less is more.'
8. Best Legs 40 and Over Award
Winner: Halle Berry
Oh, who are we kidding. Halle's legs rival those of any age bracket. I mean, at some point, we stop asking "Who are you wearing" and just "How?"

Runner Up: Vanessa Williams
Another ageless beauty, the "Ugly Betty" star looked ready for fun in this jazzy navy silk chiffon cocktail dress with crystal beaded trim by Escada.

9. I'm the King of the World! Award
Winner: Masi Oka
Actor Oka can celebrate all he wants with his show "Heroes" ending the night as the People's Choice for best New Drama.

"I'm the King of the World!"
Runner Up: Tracy Morgan
With the rising popularity of "30 Rock," Morgan could possibly snag the winning spot of this category and the People's Choice for best New Comedy next year...so go on and yell one out too!

10. Shameless Plug Award
Winner: LL Cool J
LL decided to forgo a date and bring his new book to the People's Choice Awards. I'd say something smart about there being a time and a place for such things...but I seem to be distracted by the glare from those......wow, what was I saying?

Runner Up: I forget
CONGRATULATIONS to the winners, and we'll see you at the next show...
