Coming a long way from the lanky, curly-haired girl from that "Cosby" show (not to be confused by "The Cosby Show"), 21-year-old "The Great Debaters" star Jurnee Smollett glowed in this gold dress and some equally feverish accessories (Chopard earrings and Mary Norton handbag) befitting a gal gracefully stepping into adulthood and Hollywood stardom.

The Denzel-directed, Oprah-backed Christmas release presents a whole roster of (well-dressed) talent, some new and some and Oscar-winning vets you may recognize, who appeared at its NY premiere Wednesday.

But we know Smollett had some acting chops worth following when we saw her in 1997s dramatic "Eve's Bayou." We're glad to see she hasn't fallen off somewhere into young Hollywood's dark abyss.

Another "The Office" star-ah Angela Kinsey (who plays Angela....Martin on the show) showed up at Monday night's premiere of "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" in all her big(ger)-bellied glory.

The sexy momma-to-be chose this silk striped slip dress from A Pea in the Pod.

"Notes from the Underbelly" star Rachael Harris either really likes the dress or is doing some research for an upcoming episode. (That writers strike has got people pulling from where they can!)

The Pam vs. Karen: Who's Hotter? debate has been a polarizing issue among "The Office" fans since the office crush-stealing Karen came into the picture a year ago.

But whatever your preference (Team Pam!), know that Jenna Fischer (who plays Pam on the TV series) knows how to let her hair down - on screen and off. Our favorite (TV) receptionist walked the red carpet last night at the LA premiere of her new flick "Walk Hard."

Guess writer strike woes (that have suspended "The Office" stars and many others) aren't plaguing this actress for the time being, as she makes big moves on the big screen, playing Golden Globe-nominated (yes, just today!) John C. Reilly's love interest.

Awwww, I know John, we love her, too.

Her satin belt-accented floral appliqué dress by Escada was a far cry from the button downs and cardigans of Pam's world.

What she does have in common with her Scranton, PA-based TV character is that...we just can't stop rooting for her!

There's been some debate on whether or not Katie Holmes has been dressing way too mature for her 28-year-old self since she got with now hubby Tom Cruise a couple of years ago.

But in my opinion...

...it beats the Midwest boho unchic look of previous years.

Say what you want about "TomKat," but Katie is working the new role (mom, wife, Posh's bff), especially at last Friday's AFI Fest's opening night premiere of Cruise's "Lions for Lambs" film.

And I can totally respect a girl who can rock the flats with class (and make you think she did it on purpose, and not just because her husband's about *yay* high.)

Tom's lucky to have her by his side.

If only to distract us from his Zac Efron-esque bangs.

Ok, ok, Sarah Michelle Gellar. But maybe if she'd show her face around town more, or on screen for that matter, my first reaction wouldn't be, "the Slayer!"

But here she is, Ms. Gellar/Mrs. Prinze, Jr., at the premiere of her new flick " Southland Tales" (starring THE ROCK! - you have to spell and say it like that - Mandy Moore, Seann William Scott, and a host of others) at this weekend's AFI Fest in Hollywood .

The ladies of "Superbad" held it down at the premiere of the boy-angst film in Hollywood yesterday.

Although the male stars of the expected-to-be-superGOOD flick weren't looking too shabby...

...we've got to hand it to the ladies (if only for the simple fact that their clothes fit a bit better...sorry fellas!)

Red carpet virgin Martha MacIsaac chose wisely walking into the premiere sporting a pair of Kenneth Cole navy and taupe satin criss-cross heels.

Does co-star Emma Stone have a secret to tell, or is she just happy to see another woman with good taste in shoes?

There's no denying it, too many cute shoes in one place can be explosive.

(And I'm pretty sure it's not what's in that martini glass or the potential for a box office hit that's got them all giddy, either.)

Meanwhile, actress Kristen Bell was exercising her right to be superbad.

(throwing a tantrum for not getting to be in the film a la Molly Shannon's "Superstar")

(mimicking firing her agent for not getting her into this film)

(as an employable actress, in Kenneth Cole nude patent leather peep-toe heels by Kenneth Cole New York. )

We think you have a better chance at getting more gigs with the 3rd look Kristen. We'd like to know you as more than just, "That chick from Veronica Mars..."

The ladies of the upcoming movie "Hairspray" had the locks on lock but it was the bags that made the subtle difference at Tuesday's L.A. premiere of the film.

The leader of the pack was the Queen (Latifah) herself who had more fun with platinum blonde for this blowout, but made a surefire accessory pick with a little black clutch by Daniel Swarovski.

Meanwhile, on a more naturally tress-ed part of the red carpet, funny girl Amanda Bynes kept the energy up as she flashed a sparkling smile (and a Swarovski crystal-accented Mary Norton clutch) for the cameras and her fans.

But the prize goes to Kelly Preston who accompanied her husband (ya know, the original JT) to the premiere in this glittery number and an ivory satin Daniel Swarovski clutch with a crystal covered clasp.

There's only one thing I love more than seeing Angela Bassett at the Los Angeles premiere of her new animated movie, "Meet the Robinsons"...

And that's Angela Bassett and sweety/hubby/actor/perfect accessory in the form of a man, Courtney Vance, at the Los Angeles premiere of her new animated movie, "Meet the Robinsons."

The man not only knows how to dress to compliment his wife, but I'm pretty sure he has no qualms about being the husband of such a beautiful, strong and successful woman.

(See? Good times.)

Speaking of strong, am I the only one who wants to fling her weights and hide under the covers in shame when faced with the amazing sculpted works of which are Angela's arms??

But I guess, since it was a family movie, she decided to leave the "guns" at home for Sunday's event and opted for a spring-worthy white Doncaster trench coat (seen above) and this breezy silk pouf-sleeve blouse.

Actress Tracee Ellis Ross was the star of (the Hollywood premiere of) Tyler Perry's new movie, "Daddy's Little Girls" with this David Meister citrus satin sheath dress with twist accent.

While not everyone can pull off such a colorful and shiny number, Ross' bright personality (and smile) matches the outfit perfectly...

Actress Gong Li commanded the red carpet Wednesday night at the New York premiere of "Hannibal Rising" with the fierceness of a cheetah that inspired her form-fitting gown.

But it was the platinum-set diamond Chopard earrings that grabbed photographers' attention .

It was a happy reunion with director Peter Webber - although I can't tell if he's laughing or squinting from the glare of the almost 73 carats decorating her ears.

I guess it was the latter because Li continued the evening without them...

Jay Z to self: Did someone just dim the lights?

With Webber promising to bring his shades next time, the celebration continued. No hard feelings I guess!

For Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank, it's not the size that matters...especially when it comes to Chopard. The recent recipient of a Hollywood Star rocked the red carpet with two appropriately subtle rocks set in 18K white gold on her ears (also wore: diamond Chopard bracelet), courtesy of the luxury jewelry designer, at last Thursday night's premiere of "Freedom Writers" at Westwood's Village Mann theater.

So how excited was she to shed her "Freedom" character's drab teacher's wardrobe and slip into something diamond?

At the Los Angeles premiere of "Alpha Dog" Wednesday night, actress Sharon Stone (who, in addition to Alpha Dog, had a busy 2006 with a role in "Bobby" and has wrapped two more films set to release in 2007) emerged the alpha star with style in her Rachel Roy sleek 'Layla' turtleneck and belt waist ruffled 'Ruth' trench.

Her head to toe black-wear was all about the details - from the pouf sleeves, butterfly broach and skinny headband to the black jewelery adorning her ears and wrist - and outshined even the brightest of the attendees' outfits, which included fellow "Alpha" castmember Dominique Swain, who looked pretty in pink stretch satin by David Meister.

Swain showed off her acting skills as she decided between seductress...

...and schoolgirl (or is that Kirsten Dunst?) while posing for the cameras.

Don't worry Swain, you'll have plenty of time to figure it out.

As for Stone, with over two decades in the business, she's settled on something along the lines of classy. The always transforming Stone arguably looks just as good if not better than her "Basic Instinct" and "Casino" days.

But things were different then (and by things, I mean hair, and by different, i mean worse). But one thing that doesn't change is Stone holds her own inside the boys club that is Hollywood (shown below with "Alpha" boys including director Nick Cassavetes, far left, and Justin Timberlake).

One Supreme (Mary Wilson) plus one Destiny's Child (do we even need to say it) equals stunning style at Monday night's Los Angeles premiere of "Dreamgirls" where Wilson played correspondent for "Extra TV".

But the story of their similar "girl group" past, however, is outshined by their glittering present.

Literally! Wilson's Swarovski Crystal necklace, the main attraction of the all-black ensemble, is almost as long as the train on Beyonce's form-fitting Elie Saab gown.
