Orange Line Canoga station opens

orange.jpgCan't believe I missed the opening of the Orange Line's Canoga Station, but I was in the dark until I saw Zach's Laist post. I'm told the Daily News is covering it tomorrow. I knew something was afoot when the turnoff from the busway to Variel Avenue was blocked off yesterday. So instead of turning onto (or from) Variel, then right on Oxnard and right again on Owensmouth, the bus continues to Vanowen and Canoga Ave., where there's a 611-space parking lot. That gets it closer to the Topanga Mall ... but not close enough. I'm not quite sure of the route from there to the station at Owensmouth.

All it really needs to do is head over to Owensmouth and Canoga and stop there, and all would be well.

It's kind of like the bus formerly heading right past the Daily News building ... but stopping a 10-minute brisk walk away.
