Is your street falling apart, too?

| | Comments (53) |

I'm beginning to think somebody doesn't like me. Somebody -- or bodies -- with the city of L.A., that is. I know the rap -- NOTHING gets done unless you call your councilmember's office, and they rattle the proper chains, but even Councilwoman Wendy Greuel must care not for our pockmarked street. The streets on all sides of us -- those sides being north, south, east and west, have all been repaved in recent years. But we get nothing. Large indentations regularly turn into miniature mosquito-breeding lakes, chunks come up all the time ... and don't get me started on all the Starbucks customers who use our residential street as a pass-through. I'm even thinking those dreaded "speed humps" would be a good idea.

But first of all, we need a good repaving. Even Burbank Boulevard between the Burbank city limits and Vineland Avenue has been redone, and that used to be one of the worst heavily traveled thoroughfares in the East Valley. We don't have sidewalks, nor real curbs -- the street just slopes up to the lawns. So how hard can it be? You've done every other street in the neighborhood, o Bureau of Street Maintenance, so how 'bout a little love?

Thanks, LA City Nerd. We have all called the local wheel-pushers, but perhaps more whining is necessary because methinks our street is going to be a money-sucking pit that needs to be torn out completely. Soon they won't need to tear it out, since there won't be anything left but dirt and a pile of annoyed neighbors!

I absolutely love it when L.A. City Nerd comes by -- that's a blogger who really knows what's what. Thanks!
