Don't call me, and I won't call you (because the phones are out)

We've got electricity at Chez Nuys, but no phone. And all the traffic lights are out. Good luck to me and the rest of y'all getting home.

So is it a widespread phone outage, or just the wire leading to our house, which can be buffeted by the many trees it weaves through in our backyard?

As far as power outages go, about 100,000 had no power in DWP country, with the hardest-hit areas being Woodland Hills, Van Nuys (but not our house ... yet), Eagle Rock, Winnetka, North Hollywood, Highland Park, Sylmar, Toluca Lake, Silver Lake, Atwater and Los Feliz, according to City News Service.

"Most are due to the winds," said a DWP spokesman. You think?
