Van Nuys Neighborhood Council meets this Wednesday

That's Wednesday, April 11, at the usual place, the Marvin Braude Constituent Service Center, 6262 Van Nuys Blvd, Room 1-B (you can get in the door at the corner of Van Nuys Boulevard and Sylvan St., I believe). There's no agenda for this meeting at the VNNC Web site, and this is one of the many, many, many neighborhood councils that isn't sending out meeting agendas via the city's e-mail notification system, but there's nothing much to be done about that at present.

There's always a "meet and greet" at 6:30 before the 7 p.m. meeting begins, and they do provide food and drink, so at least you'll get something sandwichy out of the deal.

On one level, the neighborhood council meeting is political theater at its finest. There are hotheads, cool heads, and all manner of others on the panel, which usually numbers about 20. At the very least, it's entertainment, and when it comes to serving a higher purpose, stuff does get done, money is occasionally disbursed, and if you want to take the pulse of your community, there's probably no other place that will give you so much information so quickly.
