CD2 final: Krekorian beats Essel
Here are the final results in Los Angeles City Council District 2's Dec. 8, 2009 runoff:
CHRISTINE ESSEL 8,304 votes 43.44 percent PAUL KREKORIAN 10,810 votes 56.56 percent
Hey everybody, let's all do this again in 16 months!
I knew Krekorian would win. He stayed on message, he had the support of many major Democratic officials (and CD2 is very Democratic), and whether or not he's an office-jumper, voters like electing somebody who's already in public office. Plus, even though Krekorian, like Essel, had to move into CD2 to qualify for the ballot, he still has constituents here due to his Assembly seat.
And when people saw all the money spent on Essel's behalf, on somebody nobody's ever heard of who never held a public office, when they saw the IBEW name atop more than a dozen mailers, the incessant negative campaiging (both did it, the Essel camp did more), that probably made the choice easier for some.
More later ...

Well, Steven Rosenberg, it is about time to sweep in a decent Republican into the 43rd Assembly District, and I don't look to James-Rogan-esque clique which picks a nobody.
From the Aspen to The Valley I come, a "Battle Star Republican".
Let's see what happens. They ain't The Glendale Partners.
Now let's see what happens in the 43rd Assembly District with an audience that can read Steven Roseberg's blog with an Emzy Veazy III presence into 2010.
Can you keep their interest Steve?! From MA, MS, CO and CA, too?!
Who doesn't love Emzy Veazy?
