If you’re a hard-core fan of high school basketball, let’s hope you’re reading this blog in time to get to Gahr High by 3:15 this afternoon.

Here are the quarterfinal match-ups in the “Gold division of the Cerritos/Gahr Tournament (again, all of these games are at Gahr High):

3:15, Centennial (the Compton variety) vs. The Colony (no one plays “faster in Southern California)

4:45, Gahr vs. St. John Bosco

6:15, Mater Dei (the No.1 or 2 team in California) vs. Palos Verdes

7:45, Los Alamitos vs. Compton (it could be the best game of the day)

The Centennial-The Colony winner will play the Mater Dei-Palos Verdes winner (gee, wonder who that will be) Friday night at 4:45 in one semifinal at Gahr, with the other two winners playing in the other semifinal Friday night (also the home of the Gladiators) at 7:45 The title game is set for Saturday night at Gahr 7:30. I’m guessing Mater Dei and Los Alamitos will be hooking up.

Over at Redondo High, there are a couple of tasty semifinal match-ups on tap for Friday night in the Pacific Shores Tournament, with Mayfair playing Fairfax at 6:30 and Artesia taking on Redondo at 8. That event’s final is at 7:30 on Saturday evening. The safe projection is Artesia vs. Fairfax but don’t be surprised if Mayfair takes the Lions right down to the wire Friday night.

Wow … aren’t you glad you come here? Now, If I’d only post with more frequency . . .
