Heck of a game

I'm assuming anyone reading this probably watched the telecast or was in the Galen Center.

But the UCLA-USC game, won by the Bruins, 65-64, was about as well-played as one of these Bruins-Trojans game have been in a while.

A second gut-crunching loss at home is going to make winning a Pac 10 title for Tim Floyd's Trojans.

But their play in the first three weeks of conference play, including the losses, has demonstrated that they are an NCAA Tournament at-large bid-worthy team.

As for the Bruins, the sluggish play of Lorenzo Mata came to an end after intermission Saturday and he, along with guards Darren Collison and Arron Afflalo (who banged in the game-winning jumper over the top of pretty good defense by Lodrick Stewart), is one of the three biggest reasons UCLA survived its first trek into the Galen Center with an L.
