It's all about the Gators

Once again . . . will someone please explain to me how anyone but the Florida Gators could have been the preseason choice to win the 2007 NCAA basketball championship?

The Gators, who rolled to the 2006 title, returned every starter off that team

It's was kind of the cool thing to do to project someone else to win it (some opted for Kansas; others, North Carolina).

I hung with the Gators, from November until this past weekend. There was nothing bold about it; it was just the logical thing to do.

Logic and a very good college basketball team both came out on top in fairly comfortable fashion tonight in the Georgia Dome:

Florida 84, Ohio State 75

Barring the unlikely return of Corey Brewer, Al Horford and Joakim Noah for their senior seasons and the your-guess-is-as-good-as-mine return of Billy Donovan (who is going to be courted HEAVILY by the University of Kentucky), it will be safe to pick someone other than the Gators to bag the 2008 title.
