Sorry, Kobe

Contrary to what I wrote in my Tuesday column in the Press-Telegram, there is one less option for the Lakers to improve themselves and help make them the title contenders Kobe Bryant wants to play for.

Bryant can NOT restructure his contract for less money in order to create more salary cap space for the franchise (as players sometimes do in the National Football League).
The NBA Players’ Association’s collective bargaining agreement with the NBA expressively forbids it.
I guess they’ll have to cook up a deal for Jermaine O’Neal after all.
