Friday: It's a wrap

Sorry for the delay in posting this. I had to write the Millikan-Jordan game story (from the passenger seat of my 98 Honda Accord, while in the Millikan parking lot) Friday night and then was too fatigued (aka, "tired") when I got home.

In case you haven't guessed, it's now Saturday morning . . .

On Friday:

*Jonathan Sanders bailed Millikan out on a night when its offense was pretty much kept in check by the Jordan Panthers. Two interceptions and a fumble recovery by the junior safety led to each of the Rams' touchdowns in their 27-14 victory.

They take a 5-0 record (2-0 in the Moore League) into their game against Poly (which takes a 68-game Moore League winning streak) next Friday night at Millikan. Get there early!

*Compton (45-20 over Wilson) is 6-0 and has a bye next week before taking on Jordan in North L.B. on Oct. 19.

*The other Moore League game Friday night has Jordan at Lakewood. The Lancers have a very good offense and could win their final four league games to go 7-3 (and 5-1 in league), which would assure them of no worse than the No. 2 seed from the league into the Pac-5 playoffs. That would mean, though, closing the regular season with wins against the Panthers, Millikan, Wilson and Compton. The game with the Bruins is the only one away from John Ford Stadium.

*Best Game of Next Week: Sorry Millikan . . . It's going to be Los Alamitos vs. Edison at Orange Coast College. The winner has the inside track on the Sunset League title.
