Should I offer my predictions on some of tonight's key high school football games?
How many of you care?
Why is the sky blue?
Anyway, they're on their way . . .
*Poly at Millikan: The Jackrabbits take a 68-game Moore League winning streak to the east side of town tonight and another victory would equal the state record for consecutive league football victories. The Rams are 5-0 and among the most surprising teams in Southern California this season. But Poly, despite an erratic offense this season, is still capable of dominating this game on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
Prediction: Poly 35, Millikan 7
*Jordan at Lakewood: This should be a much more competitve (as in "close") game than the aforementioned other Moore League contest. I was impressed with the Panthers during their 27-14 loss at Millikan last week but three critical turnovers led to a loss in a game they pretty much dominated, offensively. If they don't turn it over tonight, they've got a chance to put themselves back in contention for a CIF playoff bid. But the Lancers' offense is withotu question the most balanced in the league.
Prediction: Lakewood 27, Jordan 21
*Gahr at Dominguez: The Gladiators were 4-1 in non-league games but they are likely to get a clear reminder about the power pecking order in the San Gabriel Valley League, as it comes to football, tonight.
Prediction: Dominguez 38, Gahr 14
*Los Alamitos vs. Edison at Orange Coast College: The Griffins are off to a 4-1 start, with the only loss coming at the hands of one of the CIF Southern Section's three best teams (Orange Lutheran). The host Chargers are lost a toughie to one Trinity League power (Servite) but were blasted by another (Mater Dei). If UCLA-bound quarterback Nick Crissman is sharp (and he hasn't been healthy much this season), Edison might rate a slight favorite in this Sunset League opener. If not, the Griffins and their stud junior quarterback, Clark Evans, should be driving north-bound on the 405 with another W afterward
Prediction: Los Alamitos 24, Edison 21
