Holy explosive offenses, Batman!

OK -- it's halftime at Santa Ana Stadium (although the official name might be "City of Santa Ana Stadium") and the top-ranked team football team in the state leads No. 2, 23-17.

This is one of those "living up to the hype"-type of games.

Mater Dei is winning because of the spectacular right arm of junior quarterback Matt Barkley, some very disciplined receivers and a very imposing offensive line.

Corona Centennial has an underrated quarterback in Matt Scott and, perhaps, the best running back in Southern California in Ryan Bass.

How's this for offense?

The host Monarchs have 312 yards in offense (226 via Barkley's 13 of 20 passing performance) while the Huskies have 330 (134 on 23 Bass carries).

Centennial gets the ball to start the second half.

This could be the best game played all season.
