And it's coming to you all the way from Claremore, Okl.

Through the wonders of modern technology -- amazing things, laptop computers and the Internet -- I've got a pretty good idea of what took place on Football Friday night.

*Not so surprisingly (I thought the score would be something in the neighborhood of 28-14; it ended up 42-14) Poly knocked Compton from the ranks of the Pac-5 Division unbeatens and extended its Moore League winning streak to 72.

Right now, I believe, the Jackrabbits are in contention for the overall No. 1 seed in the division's playoff pool (which will be unveiled on Nov. 11 at the CIF Southern Section office in Los Alamitos) with Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks and Servite.

If Notre Dame knocks off Crespi next Friday and Servite defeats Mater Dei, and everything in the division goes relaitvely to plan, I'd select Notre Dame, Servite, Poly and Orange Lutheran as the division's top four seeded
teams.

Why? If Notre Dame holds on, its only loss will have coming to defending L.A. championship Birmingham, the same club that trimmed Poly.

And the Knights will a very impressive win over Servite (the Friars' only defeat, if they can get by the Monarchs).

*Critical Pac-5 games next week: Mission Viejo vs. Tesoro (for the South Coast championship), Servite vs. Mater Dei (Angel Stadium; for Serra championship), Compton at Lakewood (winner gains second place in the Moore League and the league's No. 2 playoff seed), Edison vs. Newport (if Edison wins, it gets no worse than share of Sunset League title and will clinch top seed to playoffs) and Cabrillo at Millikan (Rams clinch fourth playoff bid from Moore League with a win in this one).
