Poly vs. Tesoro next Saturday

The Poly High Jackrabbits now know who they will be playing in Angel Stadium next Saturday night in the CIF Southern Section Pac-5 Divison title game:

It is the Tesoro Titans who improved to 13-0 tonight with a stunningly lopsided 42-14 victory over Orange Lutheran.

Here's a couple of questions I hope to get answers to ASAP:

1) When was the last time two public schools have played in the Southern Section's championship game in its large-school division (in this case Pac-5)?

2) When was the last time two unbeaten squads have played in the same division?

I'd have both answers right now if I had hung on to the CIF SS championship program I got in the Home Depot Center last year when Poly played Crespi in the Pac-5 final.

tesoros offenseive line is huge those guys pushed O LOU around all nite. in this game polys speed will be a factor , but polys offense must score a lot of points saturday!!!! short passes. and stop over trowing the receivers !!! if poly wins this game they should have the right to play in the D1 STATE FINIAL!!!!!! WE ARE THE BEST LONG BEACH POLY JACKRABBITS #1 GO POLY GET IT DONE, LAKEWOOD CAN STOP CRYING NOW , THEY LOST WITH THEIR STAR STONE!! WHERE DID HE GO IN THE SECOND HALF?LAKEWOOD WAS GOOD BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO BEAT POLY!!!!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT POLY DEAT TESORO!!!!!!!!!! CLASS OF 73

Long Beach Poly 28 Tereso 14!! I know Tereso is good but they never seen speed like there going to see next Saturday night against Poly or Denfense!! Plus Tereso OL wont be able to push Poly around like they did Orange Lutheren

Tesoro is too much for any school in the state. They have way more offensive threats than poly and since fennell can't throw they have no worries. Tesoro 31 Poly 20. And that's with a late poly td.

The last time two public schools played for the Division I Championship was 2004 when Long Beach Poly beat Los Alamitos 21-6 in Angel Stadium. Prior to that in 2001 (LBP beat Edison 42-28 at then Edison Field in Anaheim). Also in 1989,1987, (Big-FIve), etc
I am not sure when two undefeated teams met in the finals - it may be 1997 when LBP went 14-0 but I am not sure about Mater Dei's record prior to the game.
Note to Frank B : The 2007 CIF SS Championship Program gives no info on the "undefeated contestants" question !

Tesoro is a great football team no doubt. But they haven't played any teams this season with Poly's speed, and a defense that's off the chain. L.B Poly 28 Tesoro 14. Bring the title back to eastside Long Beach baby.

See you at Anaheim stadium next weekend.

POLY...WE LIVE BY THESE WORDS

ALL GAS NO BREAKS...MUST I KEEP SAYING THIS

tescoro will win big

Thanks for bringing up the win streak against Lakewood (since 1982). Have watched a lot of high school football in my time. To beat a team like Poly you need a really strong program from start to finish. I mean from off season to on season. Lakewood has made great strides but when you lose a key running back from last year it hurts. Things like that in the end make the difference. I was suprised how strong Poly is now. They have two very good kickers. In the past that wasn't always the case. Poly is by far the most physical team in the Pac 5. They pound you with speed. And they are very well coached. Lakeood did play great defense and with a ton of heart. They should be proud of their effort on that side of the ball.

POLY WILL LOSE...they played no one yet...I SAY TESORO 42 POLY 12

You guys know poly is undisciplined team plus they been winning by luck but next week they will be another team to get served by the great TESORO TEAM

POLY IS OVERRATED......JACKRABBITS ARE GOING TO GET JACKED UP...POLY IS OVERRATED...OVERRATED

I live in Northern California now, but I was born and raised in Long Beach, CA.
Lakewood High School played an awesome first half and I thought for awhile, it was going to be an upset. Fortunately for Poly they caught the two interceptions that put them out of reach.
I graduated from Lakewood High School in 1959, but attended L.B. Poly in 1957,1958 (while Lakewood was being built). I'm still a Poly fan.

IM A BISHOP AMAT FAN..& WE SHOULD HAVE WON THAT GAME..A COUPLE OF TURNOVERS & SUM LUCK GOT POLY BY..BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE POLY'S LUCK IS ABOUT 2 RUN OUT..TESOROS HIGH POWERED OFFENSE WILL BE THE DIFFERENCE..POLYS DEFENSE IS OVERATED & U CAN RUN ON THEM & CATCH THEM ON SLANTS..FINAL SCORE TESRO 31..POLY 14

"So hard to be a rabbit!!"

Come on you Jackrabbits!!! You can do it again.
Oskee Wow Wow!! Green and Gold Forever!!

I read things that say Poly is overrated, that they are going to get stomped....but somehow, the Jackrabbits always seem to pull it out! The last 3 games (Esperanze, Bishop Amat, Tesoro) were all to the wire. I'm curious.......what do you Tesoro fans say, NOW?

Poly 20...Tesoro 17 :)
