I referred to UCSD's volleyball team as the "Toreros" in my Saturday game story of the Long Beach State-UCSD Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match Friday night in the Walter Pyramid, won by the 49ers, 3-0.
As several e-mailers pointed out, the "Toreros" is the nickname of the University of San Diego, whose basketball team upset Connecticut in the NCAA Tournament last March.
