Norwalk gridders very, very impressive

Add me to the list of believers.

Norwalk High has a quality football team, one certainly capable of not only winning the Suburban League title but a CIF Southern Section (Southern Division) crown as well.

The Lancers have the most efficient and effective running attack I've seen this season and their defense is much better than I anticipated it would be.

Coach Jesse Ceinceros' team is 4-0 after a 33-8 victory over Paramount in its final non-league game and I could see the Lancers taking a 9-0 record into its Nov. 13 Suburban League- and regular season-finale against league power Mayfair at Excelsior Memorial Stadium.

The only real negative for the Lancers Thursday night was the apparent injured left ankle suffered in the third quarter by captain Adrian Cortez, a 6-foot-2, 245-pound starter at defensive end and fullback.

I would say the Lancers are worthy of No. 5 (behind Los Alamitos, Lakewood, Poly and Warren) in the Press-Telegram's area Top 10 ratings.
