Presentation at Barton Elementary

Members of A2MEND are scheduled to participate in an assembly at Barton Elementary School in Long Beach on Wednesday, presenting students with backpacks and other school supplies.

A2MEND (African American Male Educational Network and Development, Inc.) is a national organization that focuses on mentoring African American students in the K-12 and higher-education institutions. The organization held its second annual national summit last March 27-28 at the Long Beach Marriott.

Long Beach resident Dr. Amanuel Gebru, who received his bachelor's and master's degrees at Long Beach State, is a founding member of A2MEND.
