And it wasn't pretty for the UCLA Bruins, who got nuked in the first round of the 76 Classic by the University of Portland Pilots, 74-47.

I still think the Bruins have a reasonable chance of finishing among the top three or four teams in the Pacific 10 Conference (which is WAAAAY down).

But they're going to have to make a whole lot of improvement between now and that New Year's Eve conference opener with Arizona State in Pauley Pavilion.

Friday's schedule at the Anaheim Convention Center:
11:30 a.m., West Virginia-Texas A&M
2 p.m., Long Beach-Clemson
6:30, Portland-Minnesota
8:30, UCLA-Butler

Show up. There are plenty of tickets available and every seat in the building looks like a 3-point shot from the floor!
