Considering how poorly they played (especially offensively), Long Beach is probably fortunate to be trailing by just five points at intermission.

Guards Casper Ware and Larry Anderson each has two fouls and Ware spent the final 4:51 on the bench.

The 49ers have struggled to get quality shots against the Gauchos' match-up zone. The 49ers did force 12 turnovers but -- because of poor open-court play -- didn't capitalize on them nearly as much.

And the 49ers had 11 turnovers of them, one with T.J. Robinson dropped in inbound pass on the baseline with 27 seconds -- a layup would have cut the deficit to three points.

But they are still in better position than they were when they trailed 33-22 with three minutes to go.

All-conference players James Nunnally and Orlando Johnson have combined for 19 points for the Gauchos.

An interesting stat: Long Beach hasn't shot a free throw! The Gauchos have attempted four (making three).
