Antonio, Listen To Bill

While Mayor Villaraigosa has clearly taken his sexual cues from Bill Clinton, he could stand to learn a few things from the former president about about how to recover from a high-profile marital implosion. Recall some of these quotes from the Lewinskygate heyday back in 1998:

“I did have a relationship with Miss Lewinsky that was not appropriate. In fact, it was wrong.”

“I made a big mistake. It is indefensible and I am sorry.”

“I let my family down and I let this country down. But I’m trying to make it right. And I’m determined never to let anything like that happen again.”

Admittedly, it took Clinton some time to work up his contrition, but so far we have seen none from Villaraigosa, who acts as though he has done nothing wrong. Not only that, but Clinton took swift measures to clean up his life: He ended his adulterous relationship and, somehow, was able to make amends with his wife. Villaraigosa and Mistress Mirthala, on the other hand, prattle on about how we should respect their privacy and honor their "romantic relationship."

It says something that Villaraigosa is able to make Clinton look like a paragon of responsibility and self-control. Do yourself a favor, Mr. Mayor, and take a page from the Man from Hope.

Antonio sits pretty with the Hispanic community, because what he did is and will be always admire by the hispanic male. A wife, a couple of kids, two or thee more women sprinkled around and assorted children to complete the picture. The perfect life. Unless there is a lot of money involved. Then the "outraged" wife attacks. In 1984 I was a driver for the (all male) Olympic team from Costa Rica. I took them shopping.
Each one of the had two shopping carts. One for the wife and one for the girlfriend, or girfriends. That kind of mentality is imbedded in most of hispanic society. "The men will say "Way to go, Antonio!" and the women comments will be "Men will be men." Am I wrong? I don't think so.

Weinkopf's excuses Villaraigosa's behavior by citing lack of paternal guidance, divorce etc., is just crap, simply crap.
When we reach the age of reason, the age to take responsabilty for our actions, we should be able to decide what we want to do with our life. When I reached that age I decided that I was not to be like my father and that was that! I have three adult children and five granchildren. A wife and only one wife for 46 years. A home, a simple retirement and I am busy doing what I like to do. To be like my father? Never!
