Corina, Corina!

I'd add to Chris' post that, should Antonio come crawling back and want to be "repair" his marriage (which would probably happen when he shoots for higher office), Corina Raigosa shouldn't even give the bum the time of day. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me! With all this talk about Antonio, let's not forget our city's first lady, who deserves to be happy and find a loving relationship. Let's not forget that she learned of the mayor's first known affair while battling thyroid cancer. She doesn't need to waste another second on Antonio. She doesn't need to be a Hillary Clinton who hangs around for appearance's sake.

I applaud Corina for filing for divorce so promptly, and for intending to revert back to her maiden name. Getting a church annulment shouldn't be too hard, as you just have to prove the marriage was flawed from the first place (and she can also show a lack of due discretion on the part of one spouse, with a lack of understanding of the sacrament of marriage). I don't believe it's healthy for kids to see this as their example of marriage, or the passe image of the long-suffering wife; Corina being strong and standing up for herself will serve as a positive example for her children, and increase the chance that they'll enter healthier relationships later on in life.

As a wise old Catholic priest told me before my divorce and annulment, "Leave, and don't look back! He'll try to come back. He'll say he's changed. Don't believe him!" The priest was right. I've never regretted following that advice!

Good post, Bridget: Just to clarify, when I was saying AV should try to make amends with his wife, I was offering no opinion on what SHE should do. But for the sake of their children, it would be great if they COULD somehow make it work. Whether that's doable, of course, is another matter entirely,
