Hair today, gone tomorrow

John Edwards, the impoverished trial lawyer and "Two Americas" class-struggle aficionado who lives in the richest house in his county with trailer park neighbors, had a $1,250 haircut during the 2004 presidential race, the Washington Post reported. Now we already know that Edwards places high priority on his 'fro, but the side part and swept bangs isn't exactly the most intricate men's haircut in the world. And should a man's haircut ever exceed the price of a woman's cut? I once paid $125 for a cut/blowout at Jose Eber ($100 cut, rest tips); a friend paid about the same when I went with her to Prive Salon (as Jenny McCarthy whined about her roots in the next chair and Jared Leto held up the line for the bathroom). However, I get a better cut from my current stylist who charges $50 and gets a $10 tip.

So is Edwards a hypocrite? Yeah, but the debate on that won't last too long because he won't make it through the primaries, anyway. Edwards might be shocked to learn that the America other than his America (in the Two Americas scenario) appreciates getting low prices on their shampoo -- and his fave product, hairspray -- at that Retail Satan, Wal-Mart...
