Michael Moore's bad timing

Whenever discussing the possibility of socialized health care in the U.S., I always point out that substandard treatment and conditions exposed at Walter Reed hospital or our local atrocities at King-Drew Medical Center are previews of what our health care would be like under a government system.

But after hearing a colleague who'd seen "Sicko" talk about how Michael Moore extolled the virtues of the National Health Service in Britain (which has been plagued by long waiting lists for treatment, superbugs in medial centers, illegal organ harvesting and limited availability of treatments that cause sick people to go to other countries to get treated) and begin to extol those virtues herself, all I could say was, "Yeah, the NHS looks really great right now!" After all, several doctors working in the NHS were just arrested in the car bomb attempts in London and the airport attack in Glasgow. And today the Daily Telegraph reports that 45 U.K. Muslim doctors were discussing attacking the U.S. with car bombs and RPGs, specifically Mayport Naval Base in Jacksonville, Fla., home of the USS John F Kennedy and, according to their chats, "clubs for naked women."

Something tells me Moore's going to have extra problems convincing the world that the NHS is utopia.
