The future of California is tied to the well-being of its children, then the state has great cause for concern.California dropped another notch - from 18th to 19th - in national rankings of how states are caring for their children.
The overall ranking is slightly above average. But a state with California's riches should be setting its sights much higher than slightly above average. Especially since states such as Minnesota (ranked No. 1), neighboring Oregon and rival New York rank ahead of it.
