No photographers were attacked during this boat ride

That's Bush and Bush -- the younger labeled "43" -- taking French President Nicolas Sarkozy on a boat ride in Kennebunkport, Maine, on Saturday. Sarkozy thankfully did not rip off his shirt and jump into the photographers' boat to curse them out in French. Instead, he hung out with the whole Bush family over hot dogs and burgers as the Bush grandkids welcomed Sarko with Magic Marker and posterboard signs.

And since Blair is no longer British PM, and Gordon Brown's no Blair, the picnic was an obvious display of these two men trying to bond as BFFs. What the two men had to say:

Bush: "He's bringing a good brain, good vision and goodwill ... We have had good disagreements — on Iraq, in particular. But I've never allowed disagreements to not find other ways to work together."

Sarko: (referring to how we saved their hides in WWII and oddly speaking in third person) "That is a lot more important than Mr. Sarkozy or Mr. Bush. Because after Mr. Bush, and after Mr. Sarkozy, we'll continue to be friends of the Americans. ... Do we agree on everything? No. Because maybe even within a family there are disagreements, but we are still a family. And we may be friends and not agree on everything, but we are friends."

Can you feel the love tonight? I predicted back in May that the "special relationship" so often touted with the U.K. would give way to cozier lovin' with France as Chirac went out and Sarko came in. I don't think many French people will be too excited about that, though they'll quickly forgive the popular Sarkozy when his reforms start bearing some fruit.
